Why don't I discuss the Polanski case? Mostly because I do not know enough about it. Second, because even if I did, I doubt I would have much worth saying. Third, it does not strike me as an important public issue. It's not like however Polanski is treated here is going to affect public policy. He is sui generis. Fourth, I love Polanski's films and I would rather not think about how I feel about how his art may affect my views on this issue. Lastly, celebrity justice stories have never interested me.
Now if you want to discuss an actual important issue, like whether Tim Tebow should play against LSU on October 10 (he suffered a serious concussion last Saturday), I am game. Let me surprise you all and say I think he should probably sit out that game at least, if not more games. Better safe than sorry.
This is an Open Thread, and of course, the views expressed above are my own and do not necessarily reflect those of the NFL, the NCAA or TalkLeft.

We didn't have any of these today. In case you folks are wondering, I am 3-0 in my fantasy football league (my "look over there" moment after the thrashing (1-4) I took on the NFL games Sunday. My usual 3-2 with the colleges (now 12-8 for the season.)
Oh, and ROMAN POLANSKI!
Hold it there kitty cat! This is an Open Thread.

Roman Polanski is one of my favorite directors. And that's all I am going to say about that.

If you're watching TV, there's the season premiere of Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters. For movies, the IFC channel is replaying the depressing but good film Drugstore Cowboy with Matt Dillon and Kelly Lynch. There's also a new Food Network Challenge.
Poland and France intend to make a joint appeal to Switzerland and the United States to have Polanski released from his detention, Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski told the Polish news agency PAP. Sikorski said he and French counterpart Bernard Kouchner also plan to ask Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to offer Polanski clemency.
There are new security camera tapes of the minutes before the OKC bombing -- at surrounding buildings. The man who obtained them thinks they were edited.
What's on your mind tonight?

My NFL picks today (I am 6-4 on the season (.600 winning percentage):
The J-E-T-Ss host Tennessee (+2.5). The spell is broken and the Titans, holders of the original New York AFL franchise's name, win outright.
The Brett Favres host the up and coming Niners in the Metrodome. I like the Favres (-6.5), because their defense is too good for the Niners.
In my other selections, I like the Seahawks (-2.5), Denver (-2), and Arizona (-2.5).
This is an Open Thread dedicated to the speedy recovery of Tim Tebow (snark).

Not a great slate of games this college football weekend, but college football has a way of making every slate of games interesting. For the season, my record is 9-6 (.600, I count the record aainst the spread). Here are my 5 for this week.
In Happy Valley, Iowa visits Penn State (-10). I have been going back and forth on this game. If Stanzi was playing better, I would take a flyer on Iowa winning the game outright (Iowa has beaten PSU 6 of the last 8), but he's not. I'm taking the Nittany Lions (-10).
More . . .

Dollhouse premieres tonight on Fox at 9.
While my posts of late have been all Public Option All The Time, starting next week, that will be leavened with some Obama Administration cheerleading - specifically regarding foreign policy questions such as Afghanistan and Iran.
So my posts will become Centrist Hawk Central. I expect much pushback from our readers, and I strongly suspect, from Jeralyn too.
