Saturday College Football Open Thread

The most important games of the weekend include USC at Cal, Oklahoma at Miami and LSU at Georgia. Florida is off this week as we await the call on whether Tim Tebow can play next week. Here are my picks for today's games:

USC is a 5 point favorite over a Cal team reeling from a 39 point beatdown in Autzen. USC has better players, has already suffered its yearly Pac 10 letdown and Barkley is back. I like the Trojans (-5) in Berkeley. And we'll be hearing a lot of this today.

The Wolverines travel to East Lansing to face the hapless Spartans. While Michigan is not anything special in my mind, and this should be a perfect spot for Sparty, I think the Forciers (+3) beat their little Cousinses. In other words, Hail to the Victors. More . . .

Stanford hosts a 3-0 UCLA today. UCLA can't score. Stanford can. I like the Cardinal (-5).

Georgia Tech visits Mississippi State today. Despite the Bulldogs' good play this year, they are 6 point underdogs at home. Is there a letdown expected? Is there the expectation that Miss St. can not stop the GTech option? I disagree with these expectations. I like Miss State (+6) to win outright and maybe by a lot.

I have picked against Notre Dame 4 straight weeks this year and won every time. Let's go for 5. I'll take the Washington Huskies (+13) over the Irish. We won't be hearing much of this today I hope.

In other games, which I will not count towards the selections (which are bolded), South Florida (-6) will cover over the 'Cuse, BC (+4) will beat the Noles, Miami (+7.5) beats the Sooners, Indiana (+18) covers against the Buckeyes and LSU (+3.5) beats Georgia.

For those who care, my season SELECTION record is 12-8 (.600).

This is an Open Thread.

should make for an interesting case:

LOS ANGELES - A Chicago-area man accused of taping surreptitious nude videos of ESPN reporter Erin Andrews in a hotel room was arrested at Chicago's O'Hare airport Friday night, the FBI said.

Michael David Barrett faces federal charges of interstate stalking for taking the videos, trying to sell them to celebrity Web site TMZ and posting the videos online, the FBI said in a statement. Several TV networks and newspapers aired brief clips or printed screen grabs from the videos in July.

Barrett, 48, was arrested after returning from a trip to Buffalo, N.Y., authorities said. He's scheduled to make an initial court appearance Saturday morning in U.S. District Court in Chicago.

The charges were filed in Los Angeles, where TMZ is based and where Andrews first became aware of the videos.

The Spartans have at least one hap, I assure you.  And they are bound to win, because they fight with a vim.

supporting BTD's pick of Mississippi State over Georgia Tech:

The SEC has loss two games out of conference thus far, one to the Pac 10 and one to the Big 12.

The ACC has lost 13 games out of conference already. Twice to the SEC, twice to the Big 12, twice to the Big East, twice to the Mountain West, and twice to the CAA (that's the Colonial Athletic Association for those that don't keep up with Bill and Mary or the Spiders). They have also lost games to the Pac 10, Conference USA, and the Sunbelt. The ACC as a whole is horrific this year.

I was watching the video clip I was thinking:  send these people to Afghanistan (not).  They would have that place in order in no time at all. Especially if Revelli was still alive to lead the charge.

Notre Dame beats Washington in OT. And the Spartans of Michigan State defeat the Michigan Wolverines.

Oh, and the Oregon Ducks win over Washington State Cougars. Of course, everyone is beating the Cougs this year so I am just grateful the Ducks didn't blow what was thought to be a sure win.

As expected, Illinois loses to Penn State. My mom says, "Zook must go."
