What a perfect night for AMC to premiere its new series, "Walking Dead."
If zombies and the apocalypse aren't your thing, there are new episodes of Boardwalk Empire, the Next Iron Chef, Desperate Housewives and Brothers and Sisters.
What was your favorite candy today? And what will you do with the leftovers?

I'm still mired in a slump, going 6-8 last week (though my 10 unit and 5 unit picks came through, giving me a nice profit for the week.) For the year, I am 55-60. Here are this week's picks:
Syracuse (+6.5) over Cinn, Purdue (+17) over the Illini, Pitt (-9.5) over Louisville, Mich St. (+6) over Iowa, Northwestern (-4) over Indiana, Tennessee (+18) over South Carolina, Auburn (-7) over Ole Miss, Nebraska (-6) over Missouri and Michigan (-3) over Penn State.
Best bets - Georgia (pick) over Florida, Oregon (-7) over USC. Oregon especially is a stone cold lock. Bet the mortgage money (kidding.)
Go Gators!

FTR, this story is irresponsible and sexist. It is also boring and pointless. It is another example of the acceptance of sexism and misogyny in our culture. On the specifics, it is unimportant in that the the candidate smeared is not viable. On the larger issue, it is reprehensible.

With a $50,000.00 contribution from Larry Zimmer, CEO of Men's Wearhouse, proponents of Prop 19 have been able to air the above ad, featuring former San Jose Police Chief Joseph McNamara , who explains why he, and other law enforcement officers in California, will be voting Yes on Prop 19.
George Soros has donated $1 million for a final GOTV effort and ad campaign. More at the Atlantic.
Firedoglake says the latest poll numbers show a drop in support for Prop 19. They really need to get young voters to turn out and vote.

On the dinner menu: Homemade spaghetti and meatballs.
TalkLeft moved to a new server over the weekend. It should be faster, but the automatic formatting isn't working in the post-writing window (comments are fine) so I have to post and then go back and add the formatting. Hopefully, it will be fixed soon.

7-7 last week. 49-52-1 on the season. Yanks out. Gators in tatters. But today begins a new run. Let's start with the Missouri Tigers playing at home against BCS #1 Oklahoma. I like the Tigers (+4) at home. I've now watched 3 Oklahoma games and 2 Mizzou games. Oklahoma is not that good and Mizzou is better than I thought. The emotion of playing at home can carry them through.
I've become a believer in Auburn. I think they are going to win the SEC. And it starts by giving LSU a beatdown today at home. I love Auburn (-6) in this game. A 10 unit play. More . . .

Yanks are still on the brink as they return to Texas tonight for Game 6 of the ALCS. If they find a way to win tonight, Cliff Lee will be waiting in Game 7. It will be a spectacular comeback if they can do it. The Phillies go home for Games 6 and 7 after Halladay beat Lincecum. I think the Phillies have the better chance of the comeback, with Oswalt and Hamels lined up. But the Giants just need one.
Speaking of baseball, Marvin Miller is not in the Hall of Fame. That's a disgrace. As Red Barber said, Miller is one of the 3 most important figures in the last century of baseball, with Ruth and Robinson. Here's a cool site, ThanksMarvin.com:
The election of [Bowie] Kuhn [to the Hall of Fame] and the rejection of Marvin was absurd. — Fay Vincent, Commissioner of Major League Baseball, '89-'92
I did not remember Kuhn was voted into the Hall of Fame. What a joke.
