What's going on in your neck of the blogosphere? Here's what's happening in mine:
- A human rights group is alleging there is a secret death camp in Sujiatun, Shenyang City, Liaoning Province in China. The group charges that doctors at the camp are harvesting the organs of Falun Gong practitioners -- and in the cases of corneas, particularly the elderly and children, even while they are still alive. And that there are gas chambers on the premises and no one seems to come out alive. The Washington Times reported on the charges here.
- Christy at Firedoglake analyzes the Feb. 23 hearing transcript in the Scooter Libby case. (Transcript here.)
- The NORML Aspen CLE program for June 1 to 3 just keeps getting better and better. (I'll be one of the speakers, my topic is "Terrorism and the War on Drugs.") On Saturday afternoon, Hunter Thompson's widow, Anita Thompson, has invited the seminar attendees out to the fabled Owl Farm in Woody Creek to spend the afternoon. The Aspen Times has this writeup of NORML coming to town.

Jill Caroll's been released. William Arkin has a fascinating column on what 9/11 plotter Khalid Sheikh Mohammed had to say about the plans for the 9/11 and future attacks.
The South Carolina Senate has approved the death penalty for pedophiles.
Murray Waas has a new National Journal article on pre-war intelligence.
And an open thread for you.

What's Tuesday, without an open thread?
Immigration, Spying Nation, Censuring the President, you decide what to talk about. But don't miss Damn Foreigner on the immigration debate.
On a blogging note, I wish people would stop bashing Jeff at Protein Wisdom for anything but his politics. Why attack him for being a stay-at-home dad? He's a Denver blogger and my friend. His wife has helped me with the coding on TalkLeft. He has the best list anywhere of great movies and his non-political posts such as his conversations with a macintosh apple and a deadbeat neighbor are creative. He also let me guest-blog and put my politics on his site when he went on vacation. Enough already.
Have fun.

I've got miles to go before I blog today, so here's a round-up and space to discuss. Tomorrow the Senate begins debating dastardly changes to our immigration laws. We are a nation of immigrants and it would be great if every blogger wrote a post today or tomorrow about how their ancesters, grandparents or parents, whatever the case may be, got here. We could get a great meme going on this, especially if readers added their stories in the comments. I intend to write mine tonight -- I'm going to the office to now to try and locate a picture of my great-grandfather.
Ok, first news, then blogs:
News:
- Former Gov. George Ryan's corruption trial is in jeopardy - two jurors hid criminal backgrounds
- Tom Trancredo's move from House pest to cultist
- Scalia speaks in Switzerland: Detainees have no rights. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Hamden case Tuesday.
- Medical marijuana returns to the 9th Circuit Monday
- Killing and Torture in Baghdad

If you haven't yet voted in the Koufax Liberal Blogging awards, please do. Voting ends Sunday. (Remember, you can only vote once in each category.)
TalkLeft has won the Best Single Issue Blog category the past three years, but this year we have the most competititon ever. Most of our supporters vote by e-mail, rather than leaving their vote in the comments here, but you can do either.
You can e-mail your vote directly to Wampum by clicking here and hitting your send button. (If that doesn't work, try this and put "koufax" in the subject line and "Talkleft for best single issue blog" in the body.)

Have you been to your local jail lately? That's where I'm headed, so if you've got stuff to talk about, here's some space. I'll be back late this afternoon.
- Crooks and Liars has the video of Russ Feingold on the Daily Show.
- Jane at Firedoglake has the latest unhinging of Joe Lieberman
- Avedon Carol at Sideshow has her usual great roundup
- Sentencing Law and Policy reports on a new paper with a reasoned approach to dealing with sex offenders -- one that "draw[s] upon lessons learned from the past and New York's experience with legislation that was driven by fear and political rhetoric -- the Rockefeller drug laws."

Thanks to all the TalkLeft readers who voted for us in the opening round of the Koufax Awards for liberal bloggers. We've made it to the finals in the "best single issues blog" category once again. The polls just opened and here is the list of finalists.
TalkLeft has won this award the past three years, but this year will be a lot harder, especially since they've increased the number of finalists from 8 to 10 and there's a professionally sponsored blog in our category.
If you'd like to vote for us, you can vote here by scrolling down to the end of the comments section, or you can e-mail your vote directly to Wampum by clicking here and hitting your send button.
Be sure to check out all the categories. You won't find a group of finer liberal blogs anywhere. Your support in this final round of voting is greatly appreciated.

I've got court in Denver early, followed by the dentist in Boulder and then the jail, in Englewood, yet another county. If readers would take over in this open thread, it would be a big help for me. Many thanks.
I don't know what TChris or LNILR's schedule is, but James the Menace Sensenbrenner and Tom Feeney are pushing a change in federal sentencing laws to establish mandatory minimums for all offenses, in a misguided attempt to get around Booker, and this deserves some coverage. If you don't find it here, check Sentencing Law and Policy for updates. The hearing is today and the witness list is here (pdf).
Update: The Oversight Hearing on post-Booker developments to be conducted Thursday morning by the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security will be webcast live starting at 10:30am .

Update your bookmarks....Firedoglake has left Blogger for Wordpress and has a new address and great new design. And Reddhedd is using her real name.
The Guardian unveiled its new website today. It is modeled on HuffPo and Journalism Prof Jay Rosen says the Guardian is way ahead of other papers for recognizing that reader interaction is essential.
Speaking of HuffPo, Arianna continues on her Vanity Fair tear..yesterday it was the Marie Brenner article's take on Judith Miller , today she lambasts Ms. Brenner for her treatment of Bob Woodward.

Yesterday belonged to Moussaoui and the Feingold censure resolution. What will it be today? Here's a start, feel free to add on:
- Arianna rips Marie Brenner's Vanity Fair article on PlameGate
- Atrios on Religion and Politics
- Josh Marshall says former Bush Aide Claude Allen may use the "evil twin defense" in his shoplifting case
- Raw Story gets an awesome bloglift (y.w.c.t.p.)
- Skippy says the "wartime president defense" (meaning don't attack the President during war time) is lame.
- Patriot Daily, whose proprietors spend all day combing the news and have been extremely helpful to TalkLeft in e-mailing me with headlines I might otherwise miss, is in danger of shutting down due to financial difficulties. If you can send them a few dollars, via their tip jar on the left side of their site, they would greatly appreciate it.
- The ladies at Firedoglake rake Joe Lieberman over the coals for his position on emergency contraception. Any time you hear somone mention Joltin Joe, make sure you also mention his new challenger, Ned Lamont, a man with true Democratic, American values.

Due to server problems, now fixed, voting in the Koufax semi-finals has been extended through Monday. If you had trouble getting your vote in yesterday or today, or haven't yet voted, there's still time. TalkLeft is nominated for Best Single Issue blog. I'd really appreciate your vote so TalkLeft makes it to the semi-finals. We haven't had any votes in days.
You can vote by leaving a comment that simply says "TalkLeft" here -- or if you'd like your ballot or identity to be secret, you can e-mail Dwight or Mary Beth and just say "TalkLeft for Best Single Issue Blog."
For all the Koufax Award categories, go here. You can only vote once in each category.
