Since I unleashed my animus for McCain all day, here's an Open Thread to talk about something else.

Boy that bailout really did the trick didn't it? Dow down 400+.
Anyone have any cheery news? How about this - in 106 days, George W. Bush will no longer be the President of the United States.
Here is a joke to cheer you up, from Annie Hall:
Two elderly women are at a Catskills mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know, and such small portions." Well, that's essentially how I feel about life. Full of loneliness and misery and suffering and unhappiness, and it's all over much too quickly.
Didn't that cheer you up?

Random sports thoughts - the Gators were not great, but they don't stink either. Love the Cubs tanking. Rooting for the Angels to get off the deck and beat the Red Sox. Kimbo Slice is a fraud.
Your turn.

Big Tent Democrat disagrees with Bob Herbert who points out that a McCain/Palin victory is dangerous because if something happens to McCain, we'd have the clueless wonder as President.
I agree with Bob Herbert and it is the single most important reason to defeat McCain/Palin. The prospect of her assuming the presidency if need be, even temporarily, is terrifying and unacceptable.
Nothing better shows the poor judgment of John McCain than his Hail Mary pass of choosing Sarah Palin, a politician with no relevant national experience, serious knowledge gaps on important issues and questionable ethical judgment to be his running mate. By putting his personal quest to be President over the well-being of our nation, he has demonstrated he lacks the character to be President. He sold us out for the sake of his own ambition. The radical right is now in a position to propel McCain/Palin to victory and then McCain will owe them. [More...]

Top of the morning to you all. I strangely find myself with little to say at the this time. So it is your turn.

High school football night. I need to pick a team. My Gators stink, but I'll be rooting for them tomorrow when they visit Arkansas.

If you do not want to talk about the issues I raise in my posts below, here is an Open Thread.
I am not sure what the House is going to do on the bailout and to me that is the most interesting story of the day, but I have nothing new to tell you.
I am out until late this afternoon. I am not sure of J's and TChris' schedule.
Update (TL): I'm off to the dentist in Boulder to fix a tooth I chipped a corner off of yesterday. (At least it's in the back.) If I just need a filling, I'll be back in a few hours. If it's a crown, I'll be back before the debate.

Busy day. Hope J and TChris can come along soon. In any event, your turn.

As readers know, I sign most of my posts "speaking for me only." The reason I do that is because it permits me to say some stupid sh*t and sometimes some smart sh*t that other folks may not want to say without it reflecting on two of the nicest, fairest, sharpest people I know, Jeralyn and TChris.
Our contentious blogging colleague John Cole has had some fun at my expense about that phrase. That's fair and funny. But I wish John would credit me when I write one he likes. For instance, Country first my ass about John McCain. What say you John?
This is an Open Thread. And yes, I am speaking for me only.

I have filled the page with my thoughts. I will be out for the rest of the day. J and Chris are sure to come along. But for now, it is your turn.
