Elena Kagan is our newest Supreme Court Justice. The Senate confirmed her nomination by a vote of 63-37. See how reaching out to the GOP garnered a ton of votes? The PPUS, working like a charm.

I still haven't seen the news today, but it's time for the finale of The Bachelorette. I'm going offline so I don't read the ending before it airs here. If you want spoilers, I have them galore over at Popleft. (Don't read if you don't want to know the likely ending.) I will say that Mike Fleiss & Co. did a masterful job this season of preventing anyone from being completely certain, despite the plentiful spoilers, until this weekend.
Update: Ali made a great choice, they seem really happy. I liked her better tonight than I did all season.

Update: the iPad on 3G gets great reception in a cement visiting room Who would have thought it? Wireless never works this good, if at all.

It's a busy day here, so I don't have time to blog about Chelsea Clinton's Saturday wedding (congrats, Chelsea), the no-fly zone over it or Obama not being invited, or tonight's premiere of Season Two of Jersey Shore (no, I won't be watching), whether Ali picked Chris or Roberto or no one (yes, I'm still following the spoilers), or the invitation I received by e-mail to Charlie Rangel's August 11 birthday celebration. (Here's the invite, it's for everyone, and yesterday Rangel tweeted it will be a "go" and there's no deal yet on his ethics charges.)

The Bachelorette is winding down. The big question, will Ali Fedotowsky end up alone or pick Cape Cod landscaper Chris Lambton or Roberto Martinez, the soon to be State Farm insurance agent from South Carolina (formerly a Florida college baseball player )won't be answered until next week. Tonight is suffering through the "Men Tell All" and the rejected suitors, minus Frank and Justin, the cads with girlfriends, who didn't attend.
Until this week I was convinced the spoiler experts were correct, that Ali ends up alone. Now I think she sends Chris home before the final rose ceremony and ends up proposing to Roberto (rather than waiting to see if he proposes to her.) It's about the only thing that hasn't been done on the show: a final rose ceremony with just one guy and the Bachelorette doing the proposing. The suspense will generate from “Will Roberto Accept?” rather than “Who did Ali Choose?” But I could change back to Ali is single before the week is out--that's how good a job they did this season.
For those of you with weightier things on your mind, here's an open thread, all topics welcome.
