the puzzle toy for my new dog. I got her a hard plastic ball-within-ball toy and she rolls that thing around for an hour at a time. Has not been able to chew through the plastic either.  It really has saved us this weekend when she has her spay stitches and can't run around outside.

She is learning house manners pretty well. I've been home with the pack just about the whole weekend. My old dog would appreciate her not stepping on his tail so much, but all in all I think we will be ok.

that was the subject of a post here this week finally ran today in the major paper in Ryan's state.  But, explaining the delay, it ran next to a rebuttal by Ryan.

Now, does Krugman get a rebuttal in turn?  Well, no, don't look for it in Ryan fan club land.

rebuttal if they run Frank Rich's opinion piece in today's NYT.   Rich speaks of Ryan as being relentlessly promoted by the right as the "intellectual golden boy of the GOP.." Moreover, Rich notes that the radicalism of Ryan's "Roadmap for America's Future" not only revives the failed Bush proposal of partially privatizing social security but tops him by replacing Medicare with a voucher system that, like his tax cuts, would benefit the superrich while raising taxes and medical costs for everyone else.  Gee, Ryan is under siege for his good Republican ideas.

by ruffian on Sun Aug 08, 2010 at 01:38:01 PM EST
Was watching 'Winged Migration' last night with some friends and the dogs (dogs were really fascinated- no joke!) and the narrator said Ad-IRON-dacks. Probably something to do with his being French, but it made us doubt that we had been saying it right. It does seem like a logical way to say it.

Fascinating film, btw. Loved that up close bird in flight footage. Then I made the mistake of watching the 'making of' featurette and saw how staged a lotmof it was. Still beautiful, but not as wild as I had thought. I guess there is no other way tonget that footage though. Un-imprinted birds would never let a vehicle or camera that close.
