    National Holiday.

    Most folks seem content with the incoming president, Santos. almost a 70 percent win in May.

    All of the other presidents from countries in South America, including Ecuador's president, are in attendance, except for Chavez of Venezuela. His VP is attending instead. Meant as a snub. Currently relations are frigid between the two countries.

    all of the latin american countries that have taken a hard left turn aren't too keen on Colombia's cozy relationship with the US.

    an Associate Justice.  (Three of the four women who have ever served on the Supreme Court of the United States are presently serving.)  I hope most of the things her Republican Senate opponents said about her turn out to be true.

    Saw a great film today...  Winters Bone directed by Debra Granik.. winner of 2010 Sundance
    a stunning performance by actress Jennifer Lawrence as a 17 year old daughter trying to uncover the fate of her father among the criminal clans of the Ozarks in Missouri.

    really extraordinary...
