Watch Netroots Nation From Your Computer

If you didn't make it to Netroots Nation this year, you can watch many of the events live, beginning tomorrow. The agenda is here.

You can watch all of the action (or at least all of our keynotes and panels) at netrootsnation.org, courtesy of ustream.tv.

The wonderful crew at 5 Steps Forward Media will film all Friday, Saturday and Sunday sessions happening in Exhibit Hall 4, Ballroom E, Ballroom F, Room 12, Ballroom G, and Room 12. We'll be building and promoting a fully-searchable video archive in the weeks following the convention.

One not to miss: Air America's Sam Seder interviewing former Alabama Governor Don Siegelman, who is in Austin (with permission of the Court as he is out on an appeal bond.) The live stream link is here, you have to send them your e-mail address and they'll send you back the show link with a password. [More...]

Wednesday Night Open Thread

I do not know where everyone is and I have no idea what is going on in the world. So fill me in. This is an Open Thread.

I like this quote from our friend Markos:

“I’m positioning myself, at DailyKos, which isn’t the broader netroots, to not be carrying water for anybody,” he said. “We’ll work to keep our party honest. We’re not going to pretend that just because he’s Barack Obama, his actions aren’t sometimes problematic. But that doesn’t mean we’re abandoning him or that we won’t vote for him. That’s ludicrous.”

Sunday Mid-Day Open Thread

Ryan Lizza has a long article in the New Yorker on How Chicago shaped Obama. I haven't read it yet, but will update later this afternoon after I've had a chance to go through it.

Update: SusanG at Daily Kos has a review of Arianna Huffington's new book, Right is Wrong.

This is an open thread. Have a great Sunday.

Saturday Night Open Thread

(Guest Post by Anita Thompson)

Hi. It's Anita Thompson. I'm sitting here in my hostess's spotless new living room as we make plans to go to dinner. So... Please forgive me for taking the lovely Jeralyn away from you for the evening. She smiled and asked me to put up tonight's open thread. So have fun posting, as we look forward to reading your comments when we return.

We have Hunter's favorite drink mix here to sip while we read: Bailys Irish Cream with a splash of Chivas. "It's the drink that's always good." he liked to say. It's called a Bif. I'm sure so many of the times Hunter and I would watch Jerri on TV while cheering her on, there were Bifs on the counter. So have fun with the open thread, and if you can, enjoy a Bif too. Your friend, Anita Thompson

Criticism

A reader comments in an e-mail:

Why are you [BTD] so stuck on attack threads on and branding Obama as just another politician? Making the same argument over and over which does nothing but divide our party and [keeps] us from fighting for the issues we care about is stupid. When you make the same case over and over again by selectively picking stances and articles that support that point you lose credibility. I do give credit to TChris and Jeralyn regardless of whether I agree with them their threads have been interesting and fair.

I agree with the praise for Jeralyn and TChris. This is an Open Thread.

Wednesday Morning Open Thread

Here is an Open Thread for those who want to discuss things not FISA Capitulation. You are on your own till J and Chris show up. So behave.

Sorry, one last FISA thing. The Senate will have the following issues: (1) Dodd Amendment to strike telco immunity (2) Specter Amendment to require court rule on constitutionality of surveillance programs; (3) Bingaman Amendment to delay immunity until 90 days after completion of Inspector General Report (all will fail).

After that the biggies, a cloture motion (Obama will vote for cloture, what will Hillary do?) and on the bill (ditto).

Tuesday Night Open Thread

Did anyone see the Access Hollywood interview with the Obama family? The kids are cute. It will be airing in parts for a few days.

Obama's donors apparently are resisting helping Hillary retire her campaign debt. The comments are nasty. So far, his donors have contributed only $100,000 or so.

On an unrelated note, the iPhone goes on sale Friday. Is anyone here going to stand in line to buy one? I'm thinking about it.

This is an open thread. Remember, disagreement and criticism are fine, but no personal attacks or insults.
