As an aside, Facebook disabled TalkLeft's page, it's now two days and no explanation. Sometimes the internets just suck.

It's hot in Denver...104 degrees today. Too hot to even search for a unique summer song. Summer in the City, Heat Wave, even Boys of Summer, I'm tired of them.
Here's Bryan Adams and The Summer of '69...at least it rocks.

Sen. Barack Obama got heckled today while giving a speech in Florida. The hecklers were African Americans who wanted to know why he hasn't spoken out for the AA community. The audience booed the hecklers, and to Obama's credit, he gave them an opportunity during the q and a following his talk to ask a question:
"My question is, in the face of the numerous attacks that are made against the African community, or the black community, by the same U.S. government that you aspire to lead," the man started, before naming sub-prime lending, police shootings of blacks, the Jena 6 case and Hurricane Katrina.
"In the face of all these attacks that are clearly being made on the African community, why is it that you have not had the ability to not one time speak to the interests and even speak on behalf of the oppressed and exploited African community, or black community, in this country?" he asked. As some in the audience booed, Obama started his response.

Your turn to ponder the fact that the Yankees lead the Red Sox 7-3 in the bottom of the 6th inning at Fenway, threatening to move one game back of the Sox for the wild card (the Rays lead the division by 1 over the Sox and 3 over the Yanks.) If the Yanks hold on, it will be their 8th straight win.
Oh by the way, just 35 days until the Rainbows of Hawaii visit the Florida Gators to kick off (well, it kicks it off for me) the 2008 college football season. Go Gators!!

The Tour de France reaches its decisive stage this morning with the Maillot Jeune likely to be decided in today's time trial. Spaniard Carlos Sastre holds a 1:34 lead over the superior time trialer Australian Cadel Evans. By the numbers, Evans should make up the time and win the Tour. But there are no guarantees.
In other news, the Yoo-Bybee II torture memo has been released, sort of (most of it has been redacted), but one chilling bit of "legal analysis" is disclosed:
"To validate the statute, an individual must have the specific intent to inflict severe pain or suffering," it reads at one point. "Because specific intent is an element of the offense, the absence of specific intent negates the charge of torture."
