Update: Goodbye Marilyn Musgrave. Colorado went blue big time and Musgrave, one of the most conservative members of Congress got replaced by Democrat Betsy Markey. Five of our seven representatives in Congress and both our Senators are now Democrats. McCain/Palin didn't even win big Republican counties like Jefferson, Arapahoe and Larimer. That's really something.

Bump and Update 10:45 pm ET: The Denver Post also calls Colorado for Obama and Udall. Add 9 to Obama's CNN total, all he needs now is California. The "personhood" amendment is dead.

9:42 pm ET: The Rocky Mountain News reports Barack Obama has won Colorado. Rep. Mark Udall will be our next Senator. Hooray!

I don't want to interrupt the Obama celebration tonight with talk about McCain and Gov. Sarah Palin, so I'm starting this post early.

I'm so glad she will be going back to Alaska and I won't have to write about her any more.

Here are my reasons why McCain/Palin lost -- in no partiuclar order: [More...]

1. Tom DeLay on MSNBC peddled fear that Nancy Pelosi will become an unstoppable force of evil in the House.

2. Chris Wallace and Karl Rove agree that Barack Obama didn't run as a liberal and therefore has no mandate to pursue liberal policies. But I'm pretty sure I've heard that Barack Obama is a socialist. Why is Rove assuming that voters didn't prefer socialism to McCainism?

3. Bill Bennett predicts newly emboldened Democrats in the House and Senate will make a mad rush to the left. Since the country has moved from right to centrist-right, he views it as Obama's obligation to govern from a centrist philosophy and to block the wild-eyed liberals.

CNN pundits roundtable already trying to hijack the Democratic landslide - saying that they have to move right. Carville asks why are they analyzing and telling Dems how to govern and how in blazes they can say, when Republicans have lost 14 Senate seats, 55 House seats and the Presidency, that this is a Republican country? Begala backs Carville up.

Amazing how stupid the pundits are. Unfortunately I expect the Dem leadership will be just as stupid. The blogs want a job now? Push back against this BS.

NBC calls Ohio for Obama. CNN calls it too at 9:34 pm.

A huge win if it holds up. Al Franken would be the 4th pickup (in addition to Hagen in NC, Shaheen in NH and Warner in Virginia.) The Udalls in Colorado and New Mexico would be the 5th and and 6th. Merkley in Oregon and Begich in Alaska would make 8 pickups in the Senate.

What time will John McCain concede?

Exit polls tell us what we already knew: the economy was the most important issue in this election. Iraq, terrorism and health care were roughly tied for a distant second.

Sarah Palin was judged unqualified by 60 percent of voters.

Democrats who voted for Hillary Clinton in the primary went heavily for Barack Obama (84%), although 15 percent of them told exit pollsters that they voted for John McCain.

A small majority of voters reject the philosophical underpinning of political conservatism: that government is the problem, not the solution.

ABC News has called Pennsylvania for Obama. Added: CNN has also.

McCain can't win without Pennsylvania. He pinned all his hopes on it. I think it's over. The Obama campaign is saying it's too early to say Obama has won, but I think it's going to be a landslide.

An early Senate race worth watching is Kentucky, where Democrat Bruce Lunsford is trying to knock off Republican Senate Leader Mitch McConnell. It's a tough road, but hopefully Lunsford can pull it off.

Warner wins Virginia Senate. In North Carolina Senate is looking good for Dem Kay Hagen. Georgia will go Chambliss but he may not make it to 50%. Martin may get a runoff.

In Florida House races, Republican incumbent Keller going down in FL-8. FL-25, the Joe Garcia race, will go down to the wire.

Shaheen wins New Hampshire Senate seat.

Hagen wins North Carolina Senate race.

Fox calls Georgia for Chambliss.

Udalls about to take Senate seats in NM and Colorado.

Update 7:45pm: You can search the ABC exit polls here. CNN's are up for each state. Just go to their presidential page and click on the state you are interested in.

Update 6:45pm: 72% of white evangelicals voted for McCain. Bush got 78% of them, a six point drop for McCain. McCain is winning them in every state, with Mississippi at the top, Minnesota at the bottom.

Update: 6:30pm: Higher income voters (earning more than $100k) went for Obama nationally 52% to 47%. In Ohio, these voters preferred McCain but in Colorado, they preferred Obama. Translation: the tax issue isn't working nationally for McCain. [More below....]

I got an e-mail from a friend that says about Ohio - "Chaos. Every imaginable problem. I'm a supervisor @ statewide call-in center reviewing all complaints from pollwatchers. Its a war. More later." Anyone in Ohio got anything to add on this?
