The news headlines are astonishing. Wednesday brought the highest number of new cases of coronavirus to date.

Across the United States, 38,115 new infections were reported by state health departments on Wednesday — surpassing the previous single-day record of 34,203 set on April 25. Texas, Florida and California led the way, with all three states reporting more than 5,000 new cases apiece.

Three states — California, Florida and Oklahoma — reported record highs in new single-day coronavirus cases, while hospitalizations hit a new peak in Arizona, where intensive care units have quickly filled.

Dozens of Secret Service agents have been put in quarrantine because of Trump's narcissistic ill-advised trip to Tulsa.

Houston is out of hospital beds and now facing a staffing shortage. The Governors of NY, NJ and CT are imposing a 14 day quarrantine on all travelers to those states from 9 other states.

Trump's coronavirus approval levels have sunk to their lowest on record.

As Rachel Maddow pointed out tonight, there is no federal response, no federal plan. The government of the United States has never been in such bad shape.

Donald Trump may just be a moron, but he's the most dangerous moron on the planet, matched only by Americans like these, frollicking on beaches without masks or a care in the world.

The young are getting infected in increasing numbers because they just have to go clubbing and partying and essentially just don't give a sh*t about anyone besides themselves. It's too bad when they get sick, health workers will have to put their own lives at risk to save them.

I got a covid test and a blood antibody test.

I get that no one is stating that the antibodies are any guarantee of "immunity," but I don't think it would hurt.

right around the beginning of March just before they shut the state down. He never gets sick. I got slightly sick not too long after. The rest of the fam felt fine.

I hope he had it and that we all got it too, and so we are now somewhat "immune." Probably not though.

We as a fam have been pretty strict from the get go about social distancing, masks, and gloves, etc. Still am.

Well, you didn't get it, so you didn't spread it.

Republicans governors are starting to get it

Trump-loving Republican governors in states such as Arizona and Texas are finally starting to take the COVID-19 pandemic more seriously now that their states' hospitals are in danger of being overrun.
CNN national security analyst Juliette Kayyem said on Thursday that even though Govs. Greg Abbott of Texas and Doug Ducey of Arizona had proudly defied expert advice by pushing to reopen their states, they now seem to realize that extra precautions need to be taken to ensure the virus doesn't get out of hand.

about the increases in the virus, state significant increases in cases among young adults due to their ignoring guidelines in order to resume a pre-virus social life.

I have two young adult grandsons and I rarely lecture them about their behavior. They are normally responsible people, yet I worry that they will relax their vigilance. I have now sent them reminders (i.e lectures) about staying safe by following the guidelines.

Who knows, Texas may go blue in November. Abbott is walking back (ok, rolling back) previous statements about reopening the economy and going out.

Dan Patrick is now keeping his mouth shut and not offering up anyone grandparents to die for the sake of the economy.

And the orange clown and his administration just keep sticking their heads in the ground deeper. Nothing to see here.

Maybe Texans will wake up and see how badly they have been betrayed by the GOP and its leaders.

They closed all bars in Florida earlier today, but the restaurants with bars are still open, so the heavy drinkers just cross the street and go there.

I guess they could restrict alcohol sales to only as part of a meal.
