    I disagree with Janes (none / 0) (#1)

Speaking only for myself the "message" of burning people because people were burned or drowning people because people were drowned was never lost.

It was clear as could be.  As far as the media and the way it was reported I personally entirely agree with any decision they made to not report it ways that reinforced the "message"

A great video of a sermon by Hamza Yusuf (none / 0) (#2)

On the crisis of ISIS Here

Qisas...revenge or vengeance (spoken of in the Janes article) is a sin.

I have waited sometimes impatiently for the Islamic scholars to speak, and this one is. ISIS is calling for his death though,  of course. He is a treasure the world needs to protect though in our current situation.

Empty words, considering what we have been doing to the middle east for the past fifteen years.

This blanket hatred of self is never fully correct or even healthy.

So would my husband. Who spoke of him in uniform in a speech he delivered yesterday at a celebration. There is no modern major faith that calls for vengeance. There are always the lunatic fringe but our faith cores call for everything but revenge.

And always focusing on ISIS empowers a relief belief for many that it was okay what the Bush administration did to Iraq. If we stand with those of peace and forgiveness though, the slaughter becomes clear and attack upon innocent humanity obvious. Giving thugs a thumbs up leads to more thugs.
