ISIS yesterday published its most gruesome photos yet of multiple beheadings at the Division 17 base in Raqqa, Syria. I'm not going to link because they are just too gross.

The New York Times says 50 Syrian soldiers were killed. Reuters says the same.

    Beheading is one thing one thing.   Driving around with a couple of heads of heads on the hood of your truck is next level.

    ISIS has announced that all females between the ages of 11 and 46 must suffer genital mutilation.

    Wonder when we're gonna figure out we're at war?

    Fact instead of rumor, 77% of all boys are being snipped here in the US as of 2010.  Just sayin'.

    If female mutilation is your issue, take a look at Egypt...the worst offender in the ME, even though it was technically "banned" in '08..  91% of Egyptian women between 15-49 have been snipped.

    F*ckin' barbaric...but cultural barbarism is a tough nut to crack.

    ...may have an effect, one way or the other, on sexual pleasure felt by the male (and I've long suspected it came about as much to remove a masturbation aid as for any other reason), but it's not designed or intended to eliminate or drastically reduce the experiencing of sexual pleasure, which is the goal of what would be called a clitorectomy if done by medical professionals for valid medical reasons instead of religious fanatics for screwed up in the head about sex reasons.

    has yet to be confirmed:

    The story quickly began to go viral, racking up hundreds of shares on social media. Soon thereafter, however, journalists with contacts in Iraq began reporting that the story didn't hold up. "My contacts in #Mosul have NOT heard that `Islamic State' ordered FGM for all females in their city," Jenan Moussa, a reporter with Al Anan TV tweet out. "Iraqi contacts say #Mosul story is fake," echoed freelance writer Shaista Aziz, adding: "Iraqi contact on #FGM story: "ISIS are responsible for many horrors, this story is fake and plays to western audience emotions.'"

    NPR's Cairo bureau chief also claimed that the story was false, tweeting "#UN statement that #ISIS issued fatwa calling 4 FGM 4 girls is false residents of Mosul say including a doctor, journalist and tribal leader." Not long after a version of a document in Arabic, bearing the black logo that ISIS has adopted, began circulating on Twitter. The document, those who shared it said, is a hoax and the basis for the United Nations' claim.

    As one analyst who looked at the document told the Independent, the issuing of such an edict would be a huge shift for ISIS, which has held territory in Syria for months without demanding that FGM take place. The practice tends to be based more on culture, Shiraz Maher, a Senior Fellow at King's College London, said and "not something jihadists have ever really taken up" or "spoken about." ThinkProgress reached out to the United Nations for comment on the discrepancy, but did not receive a response as of press time.

    The traction that this story seemed to quickly gain is easy to understand given ISIS' previous actions in the territory it controls. Along with reports of civilian executions, massacring Shiites, and enforcing a strict adherence to their interpretation of Islamic law, ISIS has even resurrected the practice of crucifixion in Syria. But for now it appears that female cutting is one atrocity that ISIS has yet to order.

    As someone noted elsewhere, except for the Kurdish community, female genital mutilation isn't very common in that part of the world.

    never convince someone that wants a holy war with facts. You have to realize that conservatives decide something and then work backwards to twist the facts or false information to fit their agenda.

    You know, the very powerful and the very stupid have one thing in common. They don't alter their views to fit the facts. They alter the facts to fit the views. Which can be uncomfortable if you happen to be one of the facts that needs altering.

    On Thursday, a high-ranking UN official in Iraq told the press about grave concerns regarding the militant group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS): they had reportedly ordered all women around Iraq's northern city Mosul to undergo genital mutilation.

    But doubts emerged on social media about the basis for the report. One document posted on Twitter suggested it may be a year old and have been issued by the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant, the group's previous name.

    zero interest in viewing them.

    But this is another example on why ISIS will lose and are not a threat.   They openly gloat about committing atrocities and mutilating women.  They are living of the world 2 millenniums ago.  The modern world has nothing to worry about.

    Some people like Jim may be scared and neocons may be licking their chops of starting another war in the Middle East (any war will due.  It doesn't even matter whose side we are fighting for as long as were fighting somebody).  But I say Syria, Iraq and Iran deal with these psychos just fine.

    Do not take a side unless they directly attack us.  And in the unlikely event they do, unleash hell on them so they do not again.  They won't though.

    I sometimes wonder what the world would be like if the US just started acting like every other member of the global community and allowed others to work out their own problems.

    But I think they will attack us.  If they did not what would be their reason to exist?

    They hope to hold power through the use of force.  Granted how they are doing this involves a lot of atrocity, but what militaristic org hasn't used atrocity?  Even the United States military has used it.  Shock and awe was atrocity, we killed innocent Iraqis..women and children, and the nation of Iraq had never done anything to us.

    When a militaristic organization gains power and resources, predicting everyone they will use those resources on can be impossible.  Most of the time, that depends on who is  leading the organization.  Their vision becomes the goals of that organization.
