ISIS: No Shortage of New Recruits

ISIS has released these photos of its new recruits being trained somewhere in Ninawah. Apparently, there is no shortage of volunteers. (None of these photos have gruesome images or depict killings or injuries.)

Note the boys dressed in white. In one photo, one of the boys is taking pictures and in another, one is just holding the flag. Since the soldiers are in beige uniforms, I thought maybe he was like the team "mascot" -- or ISIS had implemented a "bring your kids to work" day. Apparently not: In this photo, the kid marches with his gun. In this photo, the two boys in white are seated with the group, one holds a gun and another the flag.

Is ISIS just training young boys, or using them in actual combat? And what's the difference between the soldiers in gray versus those in tan? Do they have different functions?

I'm still not impressed, just not.  Just because you have a weapon doesn't mean you are proficient.  Some of these recruits look pretty out of shape too.

The Quds forces butt too....well hell.

That video though with the Chilean born narrator, not specifically the narrator, him but some of the quiet guys around him....okay, those were some tough bada$$e$.  They looked like, their physique and demeanor, what I know a military bada$$ to be and their physical presence.

These guys...they need serious bootcamp :). The kids were having a great time though.  All is not wasted.  I was just watching the color guard on the field though this morning and...well...I see some similarities :)

In war, truth is the first casualty. (5.00 / 1) (#5)

This observation, attributed to Aeschylus, has become an integral component of warring campaigns.  It thrives well on fertile soil, such as sectarian strife.   So far, terror-based propaganda has served ISIS well, capitalizing on Sunni disenfranchisement at the hands of the Maliki Shia regime to swell their forces and restore power.

The ISIS spearheading of the coalition is working in the Sunni areas of the north, but they face hurdles in Baghdad and other, primarily, Shia areas in the south.   Moreover, ISIS successes may also lead to an unraveling of their present coalition--each member of this alliance feeling that they are using the other for their own purposes.

I'll let you in on a little secret,

The Isis Gang are only, seemingly, "kicking some Qud Forces butt."

As you well know, nothing is what it seems when it comes to the Middle East. Iran's Quds could stomp on Isis like an alley cat on a mouse. And, that's exactly what they were doing when Iran first sent the Quds into Iraq. But, what (and, it's a Big Deal) has been going on behind the scenes, ever so quietly? The two Big Boys on the block, Saudi Arabia and Iran, one Sunni, the other, Shia, have surreptitiously (sneaky, sneaky) kissed and made up.......at least for the current, rapidly developing situation. They're the two biggest, most powerful, and,  most influential countries there. Since neither has a firm grip on what the outcome will be, they figured out that, no matter what the unsophisticated youngsters cook up, Iran and S.A. want to come out of it unscathed, and, in a position to call the shots going forward. So, a truce, maybe just temporary, is just a really smart move on both their parts.

Now, coming back to the "boys" and the Quds: At first, Iran's shock troops began annihilating the Isis kids. And, the deal between Iran and S.A, was jelling at about the same time. The two Big Guys figured that nothing good would come out of a bloodbath between the surrogates. So, Iran told the Quds to cease the assault, but, to save face do it in a way where the hostilities wound down somewhat slowly.

    Smart move all around, IMO.

I am a pretty decent shot, of course with no real pressure on ever.

The article above pertains to law enforcement.  People who train with their weapons daily.

My husband has long long made it very clear to everyone that he mentors in the military that when it is all for real it is unbelievably difficult to be accurate.  It isn't like shooting targets on a range.  He says be prepared for 50% of your shots to miss...and this is if you are well trained.  He is an Apache master gunner, he also qualifies expert in the Army with the M-16 and also qualifies expert on a very difficult weapon to qualify on...and that's a SAW.

There are some statistics the military would just as soon not discuss publicly.

tracy, you may, or, may not, have talked to your husband about how many of those 50% were misses, on purpose?

We've talked about this subject here before, I think around the time the Z man was (clearing throat) "patrolling" streets in Sanford, Fla, and, whether getting a handgun for self-protection was a good idea.

We've known for a long time that people, including soldiers during wars, have an innate, hard wired aversion to killing members of their own species, namely, other humans. I don't know if the military ever conducted studies that definitively answered the question of how many soldiers "shot to miss," "shot high," "shot only to locate enemy," etc. Studies done by active, and, recently retired, officers came up with wildly different conclusions.

While the studies of the percentage of soldiers that "shot to miss" varied widely (from 98% to 16%)the consensus opinion was that there was definitely a problem. I don't think knowing the exact number is all that important, but, what I do know is that the military, specifically, the infantry, has had dozens of revisions in their training procedures in order to produce more dependently lethal soldiers.

That when you begin to fire at other human beings you are held in a very different grasp.  You are trying to kill another person.  We cannot stop hoping that warning shots might deter all this somehow.  He says it is easier to be shot at than it is to shoot at someone with fatal intentions.

dangerous is the level of indoctrination possible on a 15 year old mind. With training they will have no hesitation to pull the trigger or die for their cause.

I hate to think what would go through the minds of our soldiers when facing kids, must wreck a person.

When Iraq was fighting Saddam they used kids as well.
