Street Fighting Man is hard to argue with (5.00 / 1) (#1)

Besides loving the song, I really like Keith's biography.  I flipped seeing them at the Mosque theater in Newark, NJ, in 1965 I think it was.  Their music is timeless much as blues are, and that is a large part of their roots.  More and more, they strike me as very much a country western band as well as the greatest rock and roll band.

Remember, if you're going to play any of the songs on the guitar, you really must use the proper Keith open tunings, whether 5 strings, which he frequently used, removing the low "E" or 6 strings. .  He tells all in KEITH, including the tunings, and also laughs at people who try to play his songs in regular tunings.

As to the tweeting, there's not much they've ever done by accident.  It has been genius, talent, and a LOT of hard work. And talent.

I would have gone with Tumblin' Dice, but (none / 0) (#3)

really you can not go wrong. I loved Keith's book too, for all kinds of reasons, one of the main ones being all of the information about how he makes music. I learned so much about how the rhythm carries the song, guitar turnings, bass, everything.

My favorite country song of theirs is 'Girl With the Faraway Eyes'. It was on the jukebox in the favorite dive bar of my youth. Got a lot of play from my little group of regulars.

and reading the history of the band is entertaining. Not surprising for the time, they have a manufactured image they may or may not have grown into. I wonder if someday they will make the cover of AARP magazine?

I don't read a lot into the lyric's, its entertainment, not information.

Anybody read the recent blog stink over "under my thumb"?

one of my favorite love songs of all time...Keith's soul on the vocal drips from the speakers on the album cut.  His vocal work is underrated imo...some of my favorite Stones tracks are "Happy", "Little T&A", "Before The Make Me Run".
