A New ISIS Website With Official Releases

I wasn't the only one spending hours on Wordpress this week. So was ISIS (or a government agency pretending to be ISIS.) It has a newly remodeled website containing official releases of reports and videos from their various states, in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Algeria, etc. According to the twitter feed for the website, it went live on December 17. (The website is here, but don't click through the entries unless your are prepared to see a lot of violence. I'm writing about it because of the design, not the content. Also, it's in Arabic, so you'll need to use Google translate.)

The site designer chose the Dynamic News theme. There's a free Lite version and a Pro version, and they have the Lite version (no purchase funds to trace.)

The site has an FAQ page. Ir doesn't have comments, but it does have a contact page and they encourage communication, although the form requires an e-mail address. (Maybe it's not really an ISIS creation, but a sting site by some government agency to get information on would be ISIS recruits?)[More...]

For plug-ins, they are using the Video.js - HTML5 Video Player, the all browser compatible Compact WordPress Audio/Music Player Plugin, the Recent Posts Widget Extended plugin and the Ditty News Ticker.

The author of the site's posts is Abo Ibrahim. His first post is dated 2006, featuring a 1 hour video of from Furquan Foundation, Marching Lights about the Islamic State of Iraq. (I have not watched it so watch at your own risk, it could contain violence.) Has this website really been in existence since 2006 and this is just a remodel? I don't think so, it's easy to change dates of postings in Wordpress, but then again, I really have no idea.

As to recent videos and reports, they are divided by state. The ones for Iraq and Syria are here.

I wish I had seen this before spending so many hours trying to finish TalkLeft's Wordpress site. I wouldn't have chosen the same theme, but I might have taken some of the coding and plugin suggestions, rather than struggling to decipher Wordpress myself.

thank you for presenting them and researching them! You do so valuable research and presentation. Deep information is what so very many people deeply want. This (TL) is a very important site to humanity.

I'm not going anywhere near that page, (none / 0) (#2)

but it's hosted here in the good old USA, by Cloudfare in San Francisco.

And here's the whois on the domain name owner, or proxy, hard to tell, since they're in Cairo, Egypt.  The creation date is listed as 12-17-2014.

Not feeling dedicated enough to the subject to get my translator out.  I just don't think they are the threat some work them up to be, not with all those who are allied against them.

I wonder if the site has anything to say about their

    No Returns policy

or if that's in the fine print.

and again not looking at content, but the design is very sophisticated. The lettering and font and spacing is very beautiful. MTracy, they may not be the threat you think, but, believe me, they are visually communicating in a very advanced way(s). J is right to highlight this.

My husband and I were talking together about (none / 0) (#7)

The contract interrogators who tortured people all over the world during the Bush administration.  Who are these people, other than people in hiding now, but who were they?

My husband says they were our sociopaths, honing in on a beacon flashing, a place where they could "express" themselves with more social safety.

That is all IS calls to, attracts.  And the tiniest estimate this year of how many they killed who were attempting to defect is 116 individuals.  It is all we can prove thus far so go ahead and double that figure right now.

    IS is unsustainable.

truly. But I have to think that times are 'a-changin' and pretty much IMO we just do not 'know'. What 'was' is not 'is' and maybe will not be what 'will be'. The kinds of people IS has attracted may not be what they are currently attracting (and there is some evidence of that) or what they will attract (see the PR of IS that J is posting). IMO there is a very lot of 'strangeness' that is seemingly legit in the world these recent days. Keep tuned in (and I know you will).
