Kate, William and the Royal Baby

Here's a video of Kate and William showing their new baby to the crowd gathered in front of the hospital. They are very warm and gracious.

When they left the hospital, Prince William put the baby in a car seat in the back of their personal vehicle and the couple then drove off.

No limousine, no throngs of security agents, and the couple walked right up to the public and chatted. How refreshing.

Apparently already changed his first diaper while they were still at the hospital.

Somewhere, Diana is looking down and smiling.

a glowing kind of softness there that just radiates happiness.

Sorry, that was kind of sappy...but she has the same look my daughter had after my grandson was born.

Makes me smile just looking at them.

Their serenity made me smile too, Anne (5.00 / 1) (#8)

I've said to some friends who wondered how I could be so interested, as they said, in royalty.  Well...it really is about loving, happy starts for me...and, that is a much needed brief respite from all the noise and from all the hurtful things.

Duke & Duchess aka Wills & Kate radiate more than warmth; they really have an authentic quality to so many things they do.

And, what is so fascinating to me is not only how this generation of British royalty seems to have changed, but also the recognition of how society's change in itself probably effected the royal change.  I smiled to see the Prince cradle the baby Prince like any father; and, I smiled even more as he adroitly placed the baby-in-car-seat in the back seat with momma Kate smilingly tending to him.  A day for Happy Humanity!

I know just what you mean, Anne. And, as fate would have it, I was just sitting here at my desk, setting up a four-sided rotating pen/pencil holder. Each of the four sides are picture holders with glass fronts. So, here I was, looking through a box of photos, trying to decide which four belong there. Long story short, when I saw the picture of my 3 year old grand daughter, Alexa, staring at me, smiling, sassy, one curl flopped down over her forehead, so full of life & energy, I just busted out laughing.

Lord knows, I love my son & daughter, but there's something about grand kids, something that reaches so far down into your heart & soul that, until you experience it, you couldn't know it even existed. It's almost like, when I look at her, and she at me, a voice inside me says, this is it, shooter, you'll never ask, "why?" again, this is why you were born.

Best of luck to the happy couple.

blessed I am.  A husband I love who's loved me for over three decades, two wonderful daughters, who married great guys, and now this beautiful grandson who just lights up my heart.

People tell you how great it is to be a grandparent, but until you are one, you just don't realize what that means.

And now that I have one grandchild, I'm ready for about four more, lol...the more the merrier!

Happy belated birthday to His Royal Highness Baby Cambridge and congrats to the Duke and Duchess. I think the time Prince William spent as a paparazzi and the tragic fate of his mother will better inform both of them as parents. I think the manner in which they departed hospital was a signal that they at least intend to have a modicum of normalcy in this child's new life. Good on them.

I'm pulling for Alfred, BTW. They need to introduce some new Saxon names back into the line. JMHO.

Are we meant to take more than we give
or are we meant to be kind?
And if only fools are kind, Alfie,
then I guess it's wise to be cruel.

Thus the Alexandra in Queen Victoria's birth name (well before she brought Albert into the dynasty).  And (I hope I've got this all straight, with all of the intermarriage in the dynasty/ies), there was Queen Alexandra to King George V, whose first cousin was the last tsar of Russia, Nicholas Alexander (Alexandrovich), named for his father and grandfather who were both Alexanders, and Nicholas' queen was Empress Alexandra (although that was her regnal name, but she was christened Alix), and etc.
