President Obama To Speak At 10:35

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton speaking now.

President Obama to speak at 10:35 a.m. from the Rose Garden at the White House. Watch here.

Mitt Romney, speaking before the President, after expressing condolences, quickly pivots to making a political statement. In my view, Governor Romney's political statements are ill timed, at best. Now he is taking questions about the midnight statement his campaign released attacking the U.S. consulate in Cairo. Romney's appearance is, to me at least, a disgrace. Tomorrow is plenty of time to play politics. Today is not the day for this. Poor taste, to put it mildly.

    Clinton did beautifully (5.00 / 3) (#1)

Clinton speaks for me.  A handful of extremists will not beat me into living completely fear based.  The individuals at our embassy in Libya know the risks, and they serve.  They serve our nation, they serve the unity of humanity when they can.  Based on certain politics at certain times that service can be very dangerous and they all know this.

    We're not facing a handful of extremists, IMO (5.00 / 3) (#4)

If we were, I think the problem would be much easier to "solve."  Hillary, while I agree with many things she says, is still engaging the paradigm that gets us into these messes.  And, I'm sorry, but we drone kill innocent people all the time, to think we don't is silly, and our protestations about violence, really, are as hypocritical as any.  IOW, my heart goes out to the families, and we are still as deluded as ever.

Hate to be a pill, I'm just not as sanguine right now.

husband and based on history I aalways lose, and just being a pacifist will not protect you.  It gets you dead often and empowers dictators.  There is no simple solution where everyone just goes home and shuts the door because we all live on the same planet, we cross paths, now more than ever.

Historically speaking, based on the work current day sociologists, this the least blood thirsty the planet has ever been.  Considering the global population I've even read some call the lack of blood letting astonishing when confronted with mankinds history.  That is not to say that all is well, but it is to say that no matter how ugly you want to paint everything something right has been happening.

The Libyan security team who was protecting the embassy apparently after transferring the ambassador to a more secure location alerted the mob to his  new location.....they are also reporting he was suffocated.....and the others were shot.
