FBI Busts Online Betting Sites

LATimes:

The founders of the three largest online poker sites were indicted by the FBI on Friday in what could serve as a death blow to the thriving industry. Eleven executives at PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and a number of their affiliates were charged with bank fraud and money laundering in an indictment unsealed in a Manhattan court.

Prosecutors are seeking to immediately shut down the sites and to eventually send the executives to jail and to recover $3 billion from the companies. By Friday afternoon Full Tilt Poker’s site displayed a message explaining that “this domain name has been seized by the F.B.I. pursuant to an Arrest Warrant.”

Back to old school settling once a week, if they still exist that is. Or moving to Vegas.

you're REALLY missing the real point of "Club Fed".

"Club Fed" is a generalization, slang.

Does Martha Steward or any of those white collar slimeballs end up in the kind of place I'd end up in? The kind of place where I could get the s##t beat out of me cuz some psycho murderer wants the peas on my dinner tray - daily.

While I'll grant that for ripping off 50 people in the neighborhood, I MIGHT not get sent to the toughest meanest place, however, IF they did play hardball with me, AFTER they've froze and they've taken all my assets, where will be my "justice" with NO money?

Just because there is NOT a place which has "Club Fed" over the door doesn't mean that Martha and the rest of them get it easy - COMPARED to the rest of us serfs.

I'm sure they come out and say how terrible and how horrible it was - the horror helps the redemption story and helps the saleability of the redemption story & interviews - and it probably was horrible to NOT be surrounded by luxury and by toadies - THEY AIN'T POUNDING ROCKS ON A CHAIN GANG FOR 20 YEARS, which is what they deserve.

More importantly for me, I am a sports bettor and the only place you can bet sports legally is Nevada.

right now and they are working hard to sort some things out.  I'm going to email you my phone number to call me this weekend.  You have teaching experience and they are beginning to put a lot of emphasis on that because it is being acknowledged that it is a key component to quality instruction.  There was another factor in your history that I think you shared with me too that they are looking for that would put you up front when applying for many of the teaching slots that will be showing up.  It is a huge bummer though right now because they have a "hiring freeze" in that new jobs will not be created, so different branches are fighting over the existing slots.  They hire someone for a specific slot, and then it seems like shortly after that there is a fight over who owned the slot, and it is moved elsewhere and they have to rehire for the job again under a different slot that I guess existed but was hanging out in oblivion or something.  I don't understand it all very well but my husband does and he can explain things to you a lot better.  Even with a hiring freeze, we have soldiers deploying leaving teaching slots and certain commands arguing for their positions to be converted to civilian and some of them are being given a hard look at.

store for a song before the creditors came about a month ago.  And his new office, which is really a gorgeous building and is only about a year old, has a foreclosure sign out front.  I don't know how his subdivisions are doing.  He had two restaurants here that were open last year, but he closed those when Country Crossings hit that first speed bump.

News sites have an irritating habit of describing legal proceedings without linking to the primary documents. It doesn't help that the DOJ has a press release up, and nothing more.
