Boxer Up 8

In the other race I am following very closely, a PPP poll (PDF) has Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) up by 8. That's good news. This ad (Fiorina "Proud" Of Outsourcing Jobs While At HP) is no doubt helping:

of that ad. very happy that it seems to be on heavy rotation.

I think the AD is GREAT! (none / 0) (#2)

This ad has been in heavy rotation and I am so glad to see it around here. If Barbara keeps fighting like this, I will sho 'nuff send a few shekels her way. I don't need some ill-defined progressive purity test to see that she will be the one who comes closest to fighting for the things that are important to me and California.

Now if we can get some "Wall Street Whitman" ads up in heavy rotation, I'd bet we would see a change in the governor's race too.

    They should just run Whitman's (5.00 / 1) (#5)

eMeg because she doesn't list a massive failure as her primary accomplishment (seriously what exactly was Fiorina's case "Vote Carly I'll rep Cali like I did HP" - its like Jeff Skilling running for the Senate in Texas).

correct, but Meg's still doing the campaign at a distance method and Jerry's been doing it for almost 40 years:

Darry Sragow, a Democratic strategist, noted that even some of Clinton's most fervent admirers were uncomfortable with the personal failings addressed by Brown.

"We once again experience Jerry Brown as he is and as he always has been," Sragow said. "What you see with Jerry Brown is what you get. He's a candidate who's forthright, you pretty much know exactly what's on his mind. You can argue that sometimes gets him in trouble. I happen to think voters respect someone who shoots straight."

Asked whether he would now choose his words more carefully, Brown said no. And in the days that followed, he campaigned as usual. At the downtown Los Angeles celebration of El Grito, marking the 200th anniversary of Mexico's independence, he mingled with diplomats and dignitaries at a VIP lounge at Staples Center and with street vendors hawking Mexican flags and vuvuzelas -- ear-piercing horns -- on Figueroa Street.

When Brown ran into boxer Oscar de la Hoya, the Olympic gold medalist punched the air between them and said, "I can give you some tips on how to get in some body shots." One man called out to Brown that he was "nuestro gallo." The Spanish phrase is a colloquialism that means "our man" or "our champion," though it literally means "our rooster," -- a translation that Brown appeared to find amusing.

    being someone I'm not.

I'm just saying don't count Jerry Brown out, especially when his opponent missteps:

But some wondered if Whitman will be damaged by her Clinton ad, which cites a CNN report that both the original reporter and the former president have acknowledged was inaccurate.

"It opens the door to the charge that she's not being honest. Saying stupid things is a pretty serious thing, but saying untrue things is probably more damaging," Sonenshein said. "That's the problem with honesty in politics, it's like pulling a thread, sometimes the whole cloth gets pulled apart."

Meg is a political neophyte who has literally never run for dog catcher, and anyone who studies CA history will find it littered with failures  like Norton Simon, Mr. Huffington, etc., who wrongly and rashly thought they could use their money to buy their way into a statewide seat via an election.

I don't know how old this DA fellow is, but I remember Gov. Brown when he was Governor and was quite surprised when after his "Last Hurrah" defeat at the hands of Clinton that he went and got elected the mayor of Oakland.

Also, with the recent necessary involvement of the CA AG's office in the city of Bell scandal, he's in the news and consciousness of many of the voters in a way that Meg can't buy.

It's a close race, and to say that Jerry will beat Meg would be as foolish as to make the opposite pronouncement right now.

I'll leave political prophecies to those who aren't in danger of being called on their past record in such matters.

It's a good thing that John Kerry isn't up for reelection this year.

Kerry's just rich he didn't buy the Yacht almost literally with the profits he reaped from shipping jobs overseas.
