Bump and Update: There is joy in the Tony Rezko household tonight. The Judge ordered him released on bail, with a condition of home confinement.

Tony Rezko's friends and family have put together $8 million for his bail. The Judge has said she will rule today on whether she will grant him bail with a condition of home confinement.

    8 million...poof just like that.  Wonder were all those developer fees went from the affordable housing, it was about 5-6 million that he pocketed.

    Or clean up the garbage.  Or to host some fundraisers.  I forget which, but Obama barely knew "that individual," so what does it matter?  Look!  A butterfly!

    Since he appears to have been quite the player in Chicago politics, this could get very interesting.

    Wow.  Is he considered a flight risk?

    I shouldn't talk.  A local man has a five million dollar bail.  Here's what he allegedly did.  Too high?  As long as it keeps him behind bars until he's tried, it's alright with me.

    than it might have been.

    I'm sure the bail is high to keep him away from her.  Too many abusers are loose with nothing more than a restraining order, if that.

    In other news, a teenager who accidentally shot his friend in the head got six years for it.  He didn't know if the gun was loaded, but he cocked it, put it to his friend's head and pulled the trigger.  What's that gun rule?  "Always treat a gun as if it is loaded."

    Eh, better than my high school classmates.  They were playing with a rifle, loading and unloading it and seeing who could do it faster.  One accidentally and fatally gut shot his best friend with a deer slug.  

    Never let anyone tell you the country is safer than the city - I've got a handful of gruesome stories about kids dying.

    including a buddy who was convicted in France of bad doings, but seems to be able to fly into and out of the US with a little help from his friends, I suppose Rezko is considered a high flight risk.

    I'm thinking that you'd best be able to pay them back, with interest, if you decide to flee.

    It may also be their way of keeping Rezko loyal.  I'm speculating too much.  I'm sure they are doing it because he's a great guy and a good friend....

    All get in trouble. There is a long line of Lays and Abramoffs in the world. They just keep popping up like Whack a moles. This one is ugly because so many poor people suffered while he lived the life of luxury off their backs. I know he is not on trial for being a slum lord, but I wish he was. $8 mil does seem excessive but I suspect at that amount, the judge might allow it.

    from unsubstantiated and false allegations and personal attacks on Barack Obama or Tony Rezko. Rezko is innocent until proven guilty.

    The judge must have been thinking of Marc Rich when she set that bail.
