CNN Projects McCain Wins, Edwards Will Come in Third

CNN calls McCain the winner over Mitt Romney really early. It projects John Edwards will come in third.

What's next for John Edwards? Will he back Obama or stay in until February 5? I hope he stays in.

Update: Romney says he's staying in. Huckabee concedes. He sounds triumphant and announces they are on their way to Michigan, South Carolina and Florida. McCain's getting ready to speak.

Once Edwards drops out, Hillary is finished.  So, if he stays in until Feb 5th Hillary has a chance.

But I think Hillary Clinton is on a roll.  Dander up, ready to fight.  Calling out Obama campaign for robo-calls allegedly in violation of NH law, but that law expressly exempts calls for federal election!

Glad McCain won. I look forward to those posts now.

he and his partners blew all that huge Dean fundraising advantage on attack ads again Gepheart in Iowa.  Once they blew his money, he was a goner.

It's a bad idea to pay a media consultant a percentage of what they spend.  That's one thing the republicans do right.

    CNN exit polls (none / 0) (#14)
by DA in LA on Tue Jan 08, 2008 at 07:50:59 PM EST
As of 8 p.m., CNN was projecting that Obama and Clinton remained in a close race for the lead as the final polling places in the state were closing.

Among men, Obama led Clinton 44 percent to 24 percent, according to early polling.

Clinton had a smaller lead over Obama among women, 40 percent to 36 percent.

College graduates, who made up 29 percent of the electorate, opted for Obama with 40 percent of the vote to Clinton's 33 percent. He led Clinton among every education group except for high school graduates, who were going narrowly for Clinton.

Those polled who called themselves very liberal, somewhat liberal and moderate all went with Obama over Clinton.

Voters who said they want troops withdrawn from Iraq as soon as possible -- 46 percent of all voters -- sided narrowly with Clinton, 35 percent to Obama's 33 percent. Those who said troops should be removed from Iraq "gradually" favored Obama -- 44 percent to 33 percent. That group represented 49 percent of the people polled.
