Rudy Donated To Planned Parenthood

This Rudy meltdown was inevitable. I can not imagine what he was thinking when he decided to run for the GOP nomination. Anyway, here is another nail in the coffin of his campaign:

®ecords show that in the '90s he contributed money at least six times to Planned Parenthood, one of the country's leading abortion rights groups and its top provider of abortions.

What is funny to me is how he is contradicting himself with the very damage control operations he is running now:

Asked how Giuliani could reconcile personal opposition to abortion with a contribution to Planned Parenthood, a Giuliani spokeswoman said "Mayor Giuliani has been consistent in his position -- he is personally opposed to abortion, but at the same time he understands it is a personal and emotional decision that should ultimately be left up to the woman," said Maria Comella.
Except
"Giuliani gave a noncommittal answer to the question of whether it would be a good day for the country if Roe v. Wade were overturned. "It'd be OK," Giuliani responded."

Okaaaay.

Why can't Rudy just say that women are intelligent beings who should make their own decisions over their own bodies, period.

Pathetic to see him trying to please people that I know deep down he considers neanderthals.

The only good thing about him is that he is NOT a wingnut fundie and now he is burying that.

He thought the name was Unplanned Parenthood.

Actually, you can see what his defense will be in the way it's being reported -- which is "Rudy Giuliani and his former wife Donna Hanover donated to Planned Parenthood in the 1990s".

I'll put money down that, if this becomes the kind of issue he's actually asked about in interviews that he'll make at least one attempt to blame his wife for making the contributions.

I kinda thought he might say that Bernie Kerik's mob buddies forced him to make the donation so they could launder the money.

That would be like him lighting up an exploding cigar. Not pretty, and very embarrassing.

Remember when he tried to blame the lack of WMD on the troops searching for them?  He has a history of this.  If someone catches him at an unguarded (unscripted) moment, watch out.

That was pre 9-11.  We are now in a post 9-11 era.  Makes about as much sense as anything else.

    * Under abortion: He checked the box for: "Abortions should be legal in all circumstances as long as the procedure is completed within the first trimester of the pregnancy."

He'll never survive the heat of a presidential campaign.  If you libs kill him off then it opens the way for Fred Thompson.  Go for it.
