Poland Used By U.S. for Secret Prisons

It has long been speculated that Poland is one of the countries that housed CIA secret prisoners in the war on terror. A report by the European Commission over a year ago found evidence the U.S. outsourced torture, but none that facilities were located in Poland.

Larisa Alexandrovna and David Dastych, writing for Raw Story today, confirm it, based upon interviews with British and Polish intelligence officials.

Intelligence officials identify the site as a component of a Polish intelligence training school outside the northern Polish village of Stare Kiejkuty. While previously suspected, the facility has never been conclusively identified as being part of the CIA's secret rendition and detention program.

Only the Polish prime minister and top Polish intelligence brass were told of the plan, in which agents of the United States quietly shuttled detainees from other holding facilities around the globe for stopovers and short-term interrogation in Poland between late 2002 and 2004.

    If that is true, I would like to find out exactly under what program it is funded. Given that these prisons have been set up by ex Iran-Contra schemers, I would not be surprised if the money did not come out of tax payer dollars.

    I look at the Polish leaders, John McCain, and Angela Merkel over in Germany, and every one of these people, treated like animals or objectified in the past, are snuggling up with poison.

    Were I such a victim I pray I will have learned to be humane, instead of turning into one of the animals who hurt me.

    In the news the other day was a little blurb about another "great" year for Aghanistan's poppy crop.  In fact, if i remember correctly, last year was a record breaking year.  And the year before that was another "world leading" crop.  

    Granted, Aghanistan was the world leader in production and what not before we invaded - but sheesh, i though the Brits and the U.S. had some billion dollar eradication plan (not 2 mention all the bombs, etc...from the war itself)- implemented roughly 2 years ago?

    The war and the eradication efforts haven't had so much as a dent in overall production? No measurable results at all?  That seems kinda strange.

    but the "war on drugs" was never very good at giving us "measurable results" besides a monstrous prison population.
