Joe Klein Gets It Right

As I blast Time below, let me agree with Joe Klein (who is a darn good blogger imp), giving due props to the fantastic Edward Wong, and highlighting this heartbreaking quote:

And then, there's this epitaph for the war, from an unnamed U.S. Army sergeant, trying to console his anguished Captain:
“What can you do?...It’s their problem. This is their country, and they need to work it out among themselves. There’s nothing we can do about it.”
Bless the New York Times for its non-stop excellent coverage of this war.

When a Citizen Stengel makes you just about swear off the Madia, remember Edward Wong, John Burns, Dana Priest, Walter Pincus and the other great reporters that deserve our respect and admiration.

Joe Klein a "darn good blogger"?  You've got to be kidding me.  Even if he IS right on this one.

from how he is in TIME?  Because if he still goes around calling people like John Conyers "embarrassments," I have no interest in reading him.

And you know who killed him on the Conyers/Rangel thing.

    Yes, it was me.

You know the old adage "where the NYT goes the media goes?" It's not just another newspaper.

This same newspaper(which you bless) gave the go-ahead for the current disaster in Iraq, now you have them targeting the very people who did what they(NYT) wanted them to do.

Does it remind you of organized crime; the killers get some poor shlep to knock off someone and they turn around and shoot the sob?

    That's what I see.

That there are horrible editors at the NYTimes does not mean that the Tiems' Iraq coverage has been nothing short of brilliant.

You beef is with Howell Raines and Bill Keller, not Ed Wong.

Where will it end? These folks you bless cash a paycheck every week from the entity (mouthpiece) which helped get us into this mess. Pimps, paid by the word.

    Philip Dru where are you?

it's not. it is a problem created by us, not the iraqis. iraq didn't ask us to invade and destroy their govt and infrastructure, we took that upon ourselves. how convenient to now lay the blame for our disaster on the citizens of the country we invaded.

    and how typically arrogant.

    That's the heartbreaking part (none / 0) (#8)

I think you miss both mine and Klein's point.

Too bad people like Klein didnt read the epitaph-on-the-wall a few years ago.
