Cheney to be Evaluated for Irregular Heart Beat

Vice President Dick Cheney will enter the hospital Monday to get evaluated for an irregular heart beat. He's expected to return home Monday night.

Cheney visited his doctors because of a lingering cough from a cold and during the examination he was found to have an irregular heartbeat, which on further testing was determined to be "atrial fibrillation, an abnormal rhythm involving the upper chambers of the heart," said Megan Mitchell, spokeswoman for Cheney.

....Cheney will undergo further evaluation on Monday and if required he will have an electric impulse to the heart delivered, which is standard treatment for this diagnosis, Mitchell said. He would be put under sedation.

Update: Cheney got an electrical shock and is okay.

or whatever, but my first thought on seeing this report was "be still my heart".

My second was:  "if he croaks, Bushie will nominate Rudy Cue Ball to be his Veep and Rahm will find a way to fold the Bush Dogs into going along*, and DiFi can't help herself to not help Georgie ever since he gave her a ride in his nice aeroplane, so maybe it's not such a bad thing if he's all right."

As a former cardiac nurse, I am always amused by the media calling it "an electrical impulse" may be required.  It is a full electric shock like you see during a cardiac arrest.

Of course, he bamboozled the media when the "pacemaker" was inserted in the first place. It is not a pacemaker--it is a defibrillator first and foremost. The only time it becomes a pacemaker is if the shock stops the heart instead of the arrhythmia. I'm sure they did not want the public to know how serious his condition was.

how any god that humans have dreamed up can allow this criminal to flourish makes sense only when you look at how many other criminals there are running kleptocracies around the globe.

Any time I see stories of lots of tiny kids living in the streets, preyed on by sex tourists, I call it proof there is no god.

have no need of a regular heartbeat, just the occassional pint of warm, human blood, fresh from the vein of an innocent child.

the president has a military aide, who follows him wherever he goes, charged with carrying the nuclear "football", in case it should ever be needed.

vp cheney has a military aide as well, charged with carrying, not the nuclear "football", but a wooden stake and mallet. these to be used in case the vp loses it in public, and attempts to bite someone in the neck.

it's the only way to be sure.
