How do you stay enthusiastic after three big losses in a row? I can't. What do I conclude? The Red Sox play better baseball.

It's hard to call the Rockies 21 game winning streak a fluke. Maybe they just choked with the national attention and hoopla over their getting to the series at all. Woody Paige in the Denver Post writes:

Those of us who look at life through Cracklin' Rose-colored glasses have to realize that the Rockies are not as good as the Red Sox, the National League is not as good as the American League, the singing at Coors Field of "Hey Baby" is not as good as the singing at Fenway Park of "Sweet Caroline" and Colorado's mountain spring water is not as good as Boston's dirty water.

What are you going to do? The rest of the country is amused. We must laugh, too....And the really good news: We still live in Colorado.

The game is only in the 5th inning and the Rockies could win tonight. But that might just prolong the agony. On the other hand, there's something to be said for positive thinking.

Go Rockies!

Update: It's over. Boston won. They played better. The Rockies still have a lot to be proud about. And we're still proud of them.

This said, I expected the Rockies to win one game. They may make it yet. There has been tension if not excitement.
There is nothing like the World Series atmosphere. The fans know that they are at the center of the baseball universe.

I think Colorado and Arizona can have a productive rivalry for some years.

We in Cleveland don't necessarily feel your pain, but we feel our own pain which is pretty much the same as your pain. We sent our amazing team off to play the Red Sox, and our team got clobbered.

I just tuned back in, it's bottom of the 9th, Boston 4 to Rockies 3. Two outs.

What a sad feeling for the Rockies.

"How do you stay enthusiastic after three big losses in a row?" Seems like Boston did just that in the 2004 playoffs against the Yankees. They came back from a 3 game deficit to win it in the 7th game.....

It's nice to see the Sox win a 2nd world series. Rockies were great this year, and the future looks bright for them.

I agree. And the Broncos haven't done squat since "Invesco Fiield" (at Mile High) came into being.

As for the Mets, the last I heard Marvelous Marv was selling cars in Nashville...

Can anyone explain why all the tight shots of the pitcher's face? This is not a man giving a soliloquy....

It is a baseball game. There are 9 players on the field. What kind of shift has the defense put on?
Is the third baseman too far back??? Is the center field too close in??

I think the producers know zip about the game, and assume that their audience doesn't either.

haven't heard that name in awhile.

Mile High Stadium will always be Mile High, no matter what corporate name they slap on it. I give Chi-town a lot of credit for not changing the name of Soldier Field when it was completely renovated. Compare that to Philly....how can you build a new stadium to replace Veterans Memorial Stadium and not call it Veterans Memorial Stadium? I don't care how big the check is, thats low class.

Now it's never mentioned....

The name of the field was sold to Coors.

Just as Mile High was sold to Invesco.

A win for Colorado.

Even if he loses his long-shot bid for the White House, Rep. Tom Tancredo will be leaving the U.S. House of Representatives at the end of 2008.
Tancredo, 61 , waited until after the Colorado Rockies' last out of the World Series on Sunday night before announcing that he plans to retire from Congress at the end of this, his fifth term.
