Haggard Admitted to "Sexual Misconduct"

So much for the "just a massage" story. One of the members of the Ted Haggard investigation committee said in an interview Saturday night:

...a member of the four-member oversight board said in an interview Saturday night that Haggard admitted Thursday to sexual misconduct.

The board member, the Rev. Michael Ware of Victory Church in Westminster, said the board first met with Haggard and his wife Thursday and Haggard immediately confessed to sexually immoral conduct.

Ware would not describe what Haggard admitted to but made clear the probe was limited to allegations by Michael Forest Jones, an admitted gay prostitute from Denver. Ware said more details would be shared with the congregation today.

I wonder if Haggard stuck to his story that he threw away the meth he bought unused. On the one hand, it would debunk the overused "gateway" theory of drug use. On the other, he's asking us to believe the equivalent of "No, I've never even smoked a joint, but i was thinking of shooting up heroin -- could you tie me off?"

Actually, he's asking us to believe he said: "I've never smoked a joint, but I'll buy the heroin from you if you tie me off - and then throw the heroin away, because, um, er, um, I guess I just want to know what it feels like to be tied off, but I don't actually want to try the dope, even though I will happily pay you for it anyway, because, uh, what? um, fool me twice, ya can't get fooled again, or, um, something like that...help me out here, dear jesus! Too many questions for a man of true faith to deal with! My god, why have you forsaken me?!"

death by hanging was reserved for gays.

But, seriously, re the good reverend, I can't help but be LMAO. If one wanted to roll all these stereotypes out in one script, it'd never sell. Even to the wackos.

And, TL, nice swipe at "gateway theory"! That should leave a mark.

gateway theory? I'm familiar with the concept, but i thought it came out of left field in this context- is he accused of using drugs besides speed, that were a gateway to his speed use? If so I haven't heard of it. Or are you making the analogy that gay sex with rentboys = heroin addiction in sex scandal terms?
Or is this some application of gateway theory, whereby drug use is a gateway to sex? Because I've read in several places that speed makes people horny in ways they previously were not...

Notwithstanding the hypocricy of the religious bigots,sexual conduct between two "consenting" adults is in some quarters not considered "misconduct". I would hope that posters agree that it is still a democratic country and we have the right to disagree.

Who cares what turns him on sexually? It could be chopped liver. It doesn't matter. It's his business, and nobody elses - except his sexual partners of course.
His hypocrisy in condemning gays is what matters. And his church shows it's systemic hypocrisy by their stated "reasons" for firing him. They weren't "reasons" at all - they were nothing more than expressions of sheer ignorance and hate.
If his church had had the cohones to stand up and condemn his hypocrisy and fire him for that I'd have some respect for them. But that would mean condemning and firing themselves too. All his church leaders did was play CYA.
Oh well... there's a lake of fire all warmed up and waiting for them, I hear.
Church my a$$. Morally bankrupt cowards is more like it. Just like Haggard.

that the good rev is a married man, and the other gentleman is not his spouse. what we have here is adultery, since i'm pretty sure his wife wasn't aware of it.

so yeah, he is guilty of bad conduct, the adultery.
