Duke Lacrosse Case Now on 60 Minutes

On 60 Minutes, Ed Bradley is interviewing the Duke Lacrosse players charged in the Duke lacrosse alleged rape case, and the second dancer.

There's lots of discussion in the TalkLeft forums, but you can comment here as well.

Is the D.A.'s case hopeless? I'll be back with my thoughts after it airs here.

I think anyone, including 60 Minutes, that does any sort of investigation into the details of this case has to conclude that there is absolutely no way the prosecution can win...mainly because of the multitude of mistakes the d.a., and police, made. Just one glaring example is the lineup shown the accuser...only lacrosse players. That in itself would be grounds for an appeal, should the jury return with a guilty verdict.

Not so hopeless as one might conclude (3.00 / 0) (#4)

    Is the DA's case hopeless?

In a word, no.  One must remember there is "judicial truth" and then there is "ground truth".  These two only sometimes are the same.

Point is, "judicial truth" is the truth which the jurors see - it's only that which is in evidence and the testimony.  From that, they can draw their conclusion...

With respect to one of the guys, the case seems utterly hopeless. It appears he has records showing he was at an ATM wtihdrawing cash (having left the party in a cab), at the time the attack allegedly took place.
