Leopold: Rove Told Bush He Will Be Indicted

Breaking....Jason Leopold at Truthout reports Karl Rove has told Bush he will be indicted and that he will resign immediately when the charges are announced.

Rove's announcement to President Bush and Bolten comes more than a month after he alerted the new chief of staff to a meeting his attorney had with Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald in which Fitzgerald told Luskin that his case against Rove would soon be coming to a close and that he was leaning toward charging Rove with perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to investigators, according to sources close to the investigation.

A few weeks after he spoke with Fitzgerald, Luskin arranged for Rove to return to the grand jury for a fifth time to testify in hopes of fending off an indictment related to Rove's role in the CIA leak, sources said. That meeting was followed almost immediately by an announcement by newly-appointed White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten of changes in the responsibilities of some White House officials, including Rove, who was stripped of his policy duties and would no longer hold the title of deputy White House chief of staff.

One more quote, but Jason has lot's more so read the whole thing.

But since Rove testified two weeks ago, the White House has been coordinating a response to what is sure to be the biggest political scandal it has faced thus far: the loss of a key political operative who has been instrumental in shaping White House policy on a wide range of domestic issues.

Late Thursday afternoon and early Friday morning, several White House officials were bracing for the possibility that Fitzgerald would call a news conference and announce a Rove indictment today following the prosecutor's meeting with the grand jury this morning. However, sources close to the probe said that is unlikely to happen, despite the fact that Fitzgerald has already presented the grand jury with a list of charges against Rove. If an indictment is returned by the grand jury, it will be filed under seal.

TalkLeft's Karl Rove Indictment contest is still going on, feel free to enter.

Why would the indictment be filed under seal? What's the tactics/strategy of that?

If an administration can be personified, this one is starting to look (and sound), like the witch after Dorothy threw the bucket of water on her. What a world, what a world..

Sorry to say there's parts of my home in which I am forced to use those same mouse traps. Never once have they caught a mouse in the leg as your picture illustrates. More often, they either break the mouse's neck or crush its skull. Rove should be so lucky.

yes, Jondee, i see it.... with flying monkeys that sport an annoying, arrogant, wise-ass smirk. a tin VP who has forsaken his heart for want of more oil; a brainless scarecrow formerly with Fox News; ...and pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...he will soon be indicted and hopefully sent off in a low-flying balloon over Tikrit.

george w. bush is too inexperienced in the way a president should be experienced and to passive in his job to understand but getting rid of karl rove would be the best thing that ever happened to the bush presidency. rove has shown that he can fight, but he has also shown that he cannot govern. thus, the whole bush presidency can be summed up this way: he can fight, but he cannot govern. i doubt that bush can change much now. he still does not have sufficient experience in the american democracy to know how to sit down with people and talk things thru. but at least, rove would be gone. and the impulse to aggressively pursue every political slight might be grounded, in the electrical sense.

good orion, im sure his impulse to squash all dissent will still feature strongly in the upcoming rounds of this fight, but Rove, et al. are pinned down on the beach in Gulliver-fashion and cannot do much swatting if they wanted to. grounded? lets put a lightning rod up his arse.

I've gone to Fitzy's site so many times since he put it up that my brain is shaping itself into the graphics. I want to see the word Rove there. There are some other words I want to see there too, but I can't bring myself to say them. So I just refer to them as Vice Fuhrer Darth Fudd and *.

Karl Rove/Waylon Smithers - separated at birth? Here is how Smithers is described on the Simpsons home page: "As [Mr.] Burns'[Bush] little lickspittle, Waylon Smithers' duties include squeezing juice for Mr. Burns every morning, tucking Mr. Burns in at night, moistening Mr. Burns' eyeballs, assisting Mr. Burns with chewing and swallowing, removing Mr. Burns' dead skin, lying to Congress and some light typing."

Orion - You cant talk things through when you cant think things through, and, you cant think things through when your mind(as it were)is already made up. Of course this trait is the very thing that appeals to the true believers; the ones (according to focus groups) who crave security and assurance more than reality.
