All you need is Helen Thomas stalking him to the parking lot, and you'd have the whole Stephen Colbert "audition" skit done over again.

Helen pegged it. No credibility. And Snow's response pegged it as well. Nothing can be done to restore credibility.

Press Secretary is not exactly an inconsequential function in an administration. Could Snow not have been prepared any better than he was, or has the chain of competence deteriorated to the point to the where adequate preparation - of any kind - is a foregone conclusion? This kind of thing is ludicrous.

Spin this, Tony: Black Friday, 12 May 2006 Bush Breaks 30% Level in Harris Poll:
WASHINGTON, DC (KNX) -- The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the Harris Interactive Poll is the first to show President Bush's approval rating dropping below the 30% threshold. The survey puts the latest rating at 29%, down from 35% in April and 43% in January. Public approval of the job Congress is doing has also shrunk to an all-time low of just 18%. The Harris Interactive Poll indicates that 69% of the public feels the nation has lost its way in terms of achieving its national goals while 25% responded that the nation is on the right course.
