Condolences to Senator Robert Byrd: Mrs. Byrd has Died

Our sincere condolences to Senator Robert Byrd.

Emma Byrd died Saturday after a long illness. The Byrds were married 69 years. She was 88.

"Erma and I are complete and whole, a total that is more than the sum of its parts," Byrd said of his wife on their 65th wedding anniversary in 2002. "In my life, Erma Ora Byrd is the diamond. She is a priceless treasure, a multifaceted woman of great insight and wisdom, of quiet humor and common sense."

Emma Byrd, may you rest in peace.

Watch now as the rightwing blogs carefully include "former Klansman Robert Byrd" in any mention of Mrs. Byrd's death.

"Erma and I are complete and whole, a total that is more than the sum of its parts," My sincere condolences, Senator. 69 years is quite an achievement. I don't imagine they'll be separated for long...

Watch now as the rightwing blogs carefully include "former Klansman Robert Byrd" in any mention of Mrs. Byrd's death. That's pretty tasteless, Zeno, using the occurrence of someone's death to take a swipe at your political enemies.

    What did you just do?

What did you just do? Pointed out the hypocrisy in Zeno's post, Jondee. I'm sorry that was too complicated for you to follow, but I'm only willing to dumb things down so far. And before you start your usual BS: Zeno is not my political enemy, so your complaint is a nonstarter at best. I was merely pointing out that using the occasion of someone's death to attack those you disagree with on the assumption that they will use it to attack those they disagree with is simply playing the same BS game you are accusing them of. I disagree strongly with Robert Byrd on a great many things, but there is no reason to bring any of those things up in relation to his current circumstances. I'm sure he loved his wife, and I'm sure she loved him, and simple common decency requires that this not be taken and an opportunity to throw mud. Really, Jondee, go back to regurgitating text from other sites. At least you occasionally posted an intelligent thought when you were doing that, even if it wasn't your own.

I'd take more time to respond j.p, but some moderate muslims just pronounced a death sentance against me and I gotta run.

I'd take more time to respond j.p, but some moderate muslims just pronounced a death sentance [sic] against me and I gotta run. Translation: I jammed my foot so far down my throat I have to go the emergency room to have it withdrawn. Typical.

Gee, JP, is that another exclusive ya thought ya had the rights to yanked right out from under ya? Bummer. You're just ridin' the crest of a slump, aren't ya, dude?

Ya guyz done? I think anyone who loses a spouse after so much time together will have a tough, tough time. I hope Senator Bryd's family can help ease his loss a bit, being as supportive and loving as possible.

Zeno, Thankfully, you appear to have been wrong. An admittedly brief search via Google has turned up no such references to the Senator's past in stories about Mrs. Byrd's passing. Maybe there is a some deceny left in this world after all.
