Don't ask, don't tell, and don't star in porn videos that are released to the internet.

The Army has charged seven paratroopers from the 82nd Airborne Division with engaging in sex acts in videos shown on a gay pornography website. Three of the soldiers face courts-martial on charges of sodomy, pandering and engaging in sex acts for money, according to a statement released by the military Friday.

The website is described as "military-themed."

Steve Ralls, spokesman for Servicemembers Legal Defense Network, a legal group that helps gays and lesbians in the military, said the charges indicated the soldiers' behavior was "a much more serious matter than just their sexual orientation."

Ralls said, "I'm not going to make excuses for service members who are taking part in sexual conduct for money. It would be absolutely criminal regardless of whether they were heterosexual or gay."

Criminal, true, but commercial porn is a thriving business and its actors are rarely prosecuted. Discharges would be a sufficient response.

    In fact some military oriented web entrepreneurs are considered such assets that they are hired by the WH. Double duty whore Gannon/Guckert = WH Press/ er... masseuse.

    And the fact that the administration hasn't gone after soldiers who trade pictures of dead Iraqi women and children for porn and post their own amateur porn in exchange for money and access to other porn sites, all in violation of the Geneva Convention, and instead chooses to go after these guys is telling.

    This was just a stroke of bad luck. I'm sure it was part of rumsfeld's PR plan to extend marine's reach around the world. It is however embarrasing, and in order to make their ,glory whole the marines need to take matters in hand, firmly grasp the shaft of righteousness, and bend over backwards to improve their image;-)

    Sailor- I never had realized how much smut is out there all the time, hiding in plain english. Sounds like we need to get Ed Meese back on the job. Only someone with a nose (or other sense organ) like his can ferret out all the seemingly ordinary and ubiquitous language that will bring us to ruin.

    You're right of course, but I was just riffing on a theme, not going for anything serious. I swear no soldiers or marines were harmed in the making of this joke. I'll try to do better next time.

    Maybe if some of the Pioneers could hold off on the ten million dollar Bar Mitzvahs and investing thier windfall in the Axis of goodness and cheap labor and kick something back to the soldiers who have made life easier for them, some of these guys wouldnt be driven to these obvious acts of desperation.

    Sailor-A cunning linguist seamen are. Those lawyers must have spent too much time courting suers as their cases are full of sorted briefs.

    I've had friends & family in the Army, none in the Marines. Mis-state away, you'll get no more complaints from me. Mostly I wanted an excuse to write "pornotroopers". Twice.

    I always knew the airborne guys are gay, we old army guys did not go for each other at all. but that is nut's. only joking! but souldn't that be the navy? in the gay pornography i say get a lawyer guys you will need one.

    Innocent until proven guilty, I say. Maybe they were just producing interrogation materials for use at "Gitmo", perhaps even under a contract (with Halliburton?).
