Cable News: Olbermann Beats Nancy Grace

There may be hope yet. The November cable news rankings are out. You can view the full chart here (pdf). Keith Olbermann is the highest ranked MSNBC show and he beat Nancy Grace.

But, nine of the top ten shows are on Fox News Channel. O'Reilly continues to lead, with Hannity & Colmes number two and Greta number 3.

Where is Tucker Carlson's show? I couldn't find it on the chart.

Media Bistro reports that Roger Ailes has made a lunch date with former CNN anchor Aaron Brown.

NBC News got a new chief today - 42 year old Andy Capus. He will be in charge of both NBC and MSNBC News and the MSNBC website.

Last time I accidentally flipped past Nancy Grace, the speakers on my TV shredded themselves and the picture tube melted down. Or maybe it was my eardrums ruptured and my eyeballs exploded. I dunno, I been a little drain bamaged since it happened.

Wow, being beaten by Keith Olbermann is like getting beaten up by the biggest wuss in the sixth grade glee club. Either way both shows suck and leaves no mystery to why FOX owns nine of the top ten slots. As far as Carlson is concerned, as long as he wears that silly bow-tie and has that AirAmerica stiff as his foil he's never going to make a run for it.

All the ratings prove is that rightwing loons have no social life (or any kind of life) and stay home and watch television. Also it is important to add that Fox buys channel placement in gyms and other places where people are forced to watch.

While I'm a Fox fan I actually prefer Chris Matthews to most of their shows but my favorite is Brit Hume. The rest of the shows no matter what network are a little to much glitz and glam for me. I used to love O'Reilley but I don't want to watch shows about child molestors and the ACLU every night. Just stick to the real issues of the day. In reality how could anyone watch more then one or two of these shows? They all say basically the same thing it's just the delivery. The panel discussion on Brit every night is the best thing on cable. And Matthews is solid when he isn't bagering his interviewe and not letting them talk.

Slado...you are missing the unintentional comedy factor. I sometimes channel surf to O'Reilly or Hannity for laughs. If you didn't know better, you'd think the shows were SNL skits. Laugh out loud television. Especially when the say things like "We are fighting in Iraq for our very lives". I nearly wet my pants.

I heard the real reason Republicans are against gay marriage is because they feared the akward situation Bush would face having to turn down a Hannity marriage proposal.

As always, Jimcee has his finger on the, ahem, pulse of America. Or on some part of its anatomy. That "both shows suck" could very well be true, but it's no real basis for explaining Fox's bizarro demographic assembly of amateur sideshow acts, fundamentalist "Christians", secular rednecks, bitter couch potatoes, the reactionary right, the my guns-replace-my-inadequate-cock crowd, and the always sizeable "I'm no racist, but those blacks and minorities don't know how good they have it" voting block. That, my friend, is an audience of sound and fury, signifying, well, something. And I seriously doubt Olbermann and Nancy Grace are the glue that holds that coalition together at the alter of Ailes. Just bustin' your chops, no big.

Hmmm...maybe this is indicative of residual liberal viewership tuning in to see if TL's author will appear for a generous helping of verbal abuse by a panel of Goebbel's spiritual progeny.... In related news, Air America decides to go exclusive to XM Radio, a company which is closely-held by News Corporation and Rupert Murdoch. Makes you wonder just who is supporting what. Seems like an activist message would be more credibly delivered on the struggling to keep up Sirius network than by helping draw liberal ears to subscription revenues that help infuse rabid Conservative/Corporatist propagandists...follow the money....

It's more cathartic to hate. Or at least that's what gets the attention of those who have no time or inclination to investigate the blather for themselves. These media people play to our lowest common denominators, psychologically speaking. The panel discussion on Brit every night is the best thing on cable. OMG.

Dadler, now leave my anatomy out of this! I don't care who watches FOX I was just commenting on how bad most cable news TV is. Nancy Grace? Keith Olbermann? Who cares? I just know that when you can't attract an audience you don't make money and if you don't make money your on the way to becoming the newest shopping channel. Me? I get most of my news through the newspapers or the internet although I do agree with Slado that Brit Hume's show is better than most. Oh, and nice stereotyping there too, bub.

    Dadler, beautifully said.
Makes you wonder just who is supporting what.
Doesn't it, though? Tampa, this thread demonstrates, once again, the fact that paparazzi is king and tabloid the faithful queen. In the race to "Amuse [Ourselves] To Death," we're going at a pretty good clip.
    OMG.
Che, have ya read Slado and jimcee before? And yet you're surprised?
