DOJ May Begin Criminal Probe of Halliburton

Here's an interesting development.

The Justice Department is deciding whether to pursue an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing over how a division of the Halliburton Co. was awarded a contract in Iraq. Sen. Byron Dorgan, D-N.D., released a letter Friday from Defense Department Assistant Inspector General John R. Crane that said the department's Defense Criminal Investigative Services is investigating the allegations and "has shared its findings with the Department of Justice."

The letter also said the Justice Department is in the process of considering whether to pursue the matter.

No comments from Halliburton because "As the investigation is ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time."

Does Scott McClellan work for Haliburton too. Or is Haliburton renting his most oft repeated line.

Actually it’s an old favorite of TalkLeft … if I remember correctly, "Nobody talks, everybody walks", yah, that’s it.

halliburton got 11 BILLION dollars of no bid contracts in iraq. They got no bid contracts in New Orleans. They are under investigation for how they lied, cheated and stole in both those places and in Nigeria. Gosh, a cynical person might wonder how halliburton gets all these contracts.

Uhmm, isn't the DOJ headed by a guy that TalkLeft opposed? Would that be the same department that is now going after Haliburton, who were supposed to be bought and paid for via the Bushies? How can one live in the fever swamps of the Left and not have thier heads explode because of the hipocracy is beyond my small public school imagination. Logic 101 is lost in those swamps.

Logic 101 includes learning from experience, admitting your mistakes, changing your position if need be, and moving forward. Things that are lost, you know, on the swampdwellers of the right.

"Uhmm, isn't the DOJ headed by a guy that TalkLeft opposed?"some people within an organization will continue to do their jobs even if the head guy is a hack.

Sailor - Wasn't there a recent post that said all the good guys are leaving? It was about lawyers in the Civil Rights division of the DOJ, who wouldn't be involved in any action against Halliburton unless there were allegations of violations of federal laws regarding civil rights in addition to the other charges against H. Link

No. Also note that the article says 'may consider', as in it hasn't happened yet. But it should, and it is a disgrace that it wasn't begun a long time ago.
