    I appreciate the effort, but the cartoon is just as misleading as federal drug policy. The DEA is cracking down hard on legal, Big Pharma brands like OxyContin, with considerably more vigor than it's going after medical marijuana. And the government is hardly giving alcohol a free pass. It's heavily regulated. Drunk driving laws are less and less about highway safety, and more and more about curbing social drinking. The principled line of attack here is to stand up for individual liberty and for treating our sick with dignity. Suggesting other "vices" are more worthy of federal attention ignores both reality and principle.

    I thought the cartoon was about treating the sick with dignity. And I've suspected for a while that those running the drug war really do enjoy hurting people.
