Dems To Introduce Bill to Investigate Prisoner Abuse

Raw Story has the details of the bill Democrats plan to introduce that will cause a committee to be formed to investigate claims of prisoner abuse at Guantanamo and in Iraq and Afghanistan. The article has the text of Rep. Henry Waxman's press release, with a list of sponsors. Is your Representative on there? If not, give them a call and thell them you'd like them to sign on as a co-sponsor of this legislation when it's introduced.

In a release Friday, Rep. Henry Waxman (D-CA), ranking member on the House Committee for Government Reform, introduced legislation to create a committee to investigate prisoner abuse.

The move appears to have broad backing from all sides of the Democratic House caucus, including the Democrats' liberal and moderate leaders in the House, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD).

The sponsors' list on this is all ranking members of committees, and the minority leader. Since Pelosi is on the bill, it is fair to presume she will have the entire caucus behind her when it comes to vote.
