Tuesday Funnies and Open Thread

Couldn't resist this one, found on Craig's List in the "men seeking women" category and sent in by the Freeway Blogger, who has moved up to the Bay Area -- "If you're boyfriend is a Republican, I want you now."

Ouch!!! Love it, TL... As for the Open Thread, fans of Eric Alterman and foes of Bob Novak might get a little smile from this...

FoxSpews just flashed a headline regarding the Newsweek story: "Is the media becoming irresponsible?" Is Al Franken writing the promo's for these people? He couldn't get any funnier than that... Anyone with access to a television has to stayed tuned for the imminent show-down between Brit M.P. Galloway testifying at the hearing on Oil-For-Food... Lead-up- Galloway has called a Republican Senator a "lick-spittle crazed neo-con" alleging Galloway was dirty, and Galloway has come across the water to testify and take on what he calls "Bush style justice..." Compelling theatre, cant-miss!!!

Galloway is a disgrace to the Brits and was tossed from Labor. He profitted from oil for food deals with Saddam and laundered the money through his wife's charity to help kids so he could buy himself a lovely spread in Spain with the proceeds. In otherwords he deprived Iraqi and Palastinian children of food and medical care for his own benefit. I would consider it a priviledge to be insulted by such an a**hole but if you think he is the good guy in this case then you are a very confused individual.

jimcee, have you even seen his testimony? He looks pretty convincing to me and although I'm not a fan of his here in the UK, I think he has said a lot of things many, many (slight joke if you watched it in it's entirity) people have wanted to tell these sanctimonous buffons. That faux news are calling it a "rant" already tells me the administration has gone into damage control on this.

The evidence against him is real." Hey PPJ...do you have a link for that? Some of the War Party finally got smacked in the face with the plain truth today. Watching them squirm like roaches was priceless. Too bad so few of our homegrown politicos are independent enough of corporate cash to offer similar glimpses of honesty.

Some of the Galloway quotes: "I have met Saddam Hussein exactly the same number of times as Donald Rumsfeld met him. The difference is that Donald Rumsfeld met him to sell him guns and to give him maps the better to target those guns." "Senator [Norm Coleman, committee chairman], this is the mother of all smoke screens. You are trying to divert attention from the crimes that you supported from the theft of billions of dollars of Iraq's wealth." "Senator [Coleman], in everything I said about Iraq I turned out to be right and you turned out to be wrong and 100,000 have paid with their lives, 1,600 of them American soldiers sent to their deaths on a pack of lies." Got dayummmm...can we elect this guy Senator in this sorry *** country??

London-Man, If you think the MP Galloway was a convincing kind of guy then you are of a tender mind and would believe any kind of self loathing crap or oikish clap-trap. Galloway appears to be as dirty as can be but because he attacks the Bushies he is gold in the Lefty ranks. He represents the worst of populist politics because as he feeds at the political and at Saddam's tough and then turns around and accuses others of the same. The word hypocrite comes to mind. He is not only the worst of Brittish politicics but he is here to encourage the worst in American politics and quite frankly he is not very good at American politics. He is here to inflame certain elements in order to justify his bribes on behalf of a murderous Saddam. Are you feeling inflamed? Tie your flag to this political hack if you like but don't be surprized if you'll be dragging it out of the mud pretty soon. Galloway's politicics make hookers and drug dealers look honest.

PPJ, I've checked out the link; full of allegations (which has been convincingly refuted by GG by the way), I think you meant to provide a link which shows evidence. Jimcee, you might want to be careful about going down the hypocrisy route; I mean who met with the Taliban in Tx only to rain bombs on them a few years later? Was he admonishing them then? And talking about tender minds believing crap; Can you explain to the Uzbeks why the promise of liberty is yet to reach them. Their prez is killing women and kids, but your govt. will shut their traps as long as he helps in the war in Afghanistan. Let's get back on point now, shall we? Why were the names on the so-called list whittled down considerably and what criteria was used? Why won't they mention this source who fingered him as one of the recipients? Me thinks they just wanted to humilate him and got more than they bargained for.

London_Man writes - If those links don't convince you then you are beyond nt help. Have a nice life. You write - "I mean who met with the Taliban in Tx only to rain bombs on them a few years later?" Didn't you criticize us for not doing the diplomacy route? Make up your mind. Ernesto - Come on, tell us about how we deserved to be attacked. You know you want to. BTW - Guess you are also going to ignore anything bad said about any Repubs by any investigating committee. I mean you did read the third link, didn't you?

Jim is in the habit of thinking that anything he believes in strongly is factual. Faith based facts. Makes as much sense as arguing evolution or gravity. I have no idea whether Galloway is ok or corrupt. But I can hold the thought in mind that the most corrupt among us could still be on the correct side of any particular argument on any given day. But the rightwingers have mastered the art of changing the topic and moving focus to extraneous matters. So where is Bin Laden? Who leaked Plame's identity? We don't have time for these matters, do we?

The conservatives call facts "opinions" and they call their opinions "facts." End of story. The U.S. accounted for 52% of the illegal activity in Iraq during the Food-for-Oil (as admitted by the Republican-run Senate investigation Committee...) Maybe you apologists for Coleman should ask yourselves, "Where are the American culprits, since America accounted for over half of the scam, more than EVERYONE ELSE TOGETHER?" Answer: Ask Coleman...

Ernesto - Come on, tell us about how we deserved to be attacked. You know you want to.
Yes indeed, attacked in the sense that you and the neocons deserve to have your faces rubbed in your own BS every now and then, since it will keep the country safer that way. Meaning that the biggest threat to my freedom isn't from offshore, it's from right here, just like the 1950s. Yep...what happened in the Senate chamber yesterday was the most beautiful thing since ole Joe McCarthy took his big fall. It's just a shame that it took a foreigner to finally speak truth to these weasels. Because we all know the truth kills them, just like sunlight destroys a toxic fungus. Maybe some of our homegrown media/politicians can take a lesson here and grow some 'nads...but I don't count on it. BTW...here are some links for you: Galloway wins libel judgement Forgery shows Galloway’s name pasted on UN Oil For Food paper Mr Ali said: “We forged this list of names and titles of people who got money from the Ministry of Information, the palace and the Oil For Food. “We worked for 10 days and then we steamed the papers a bit then dried them out so that they would look old. “I beg anyone who reads his name in these papers to ask for the original version and check the date of the writing with carbon dating.” Forged documents, Jim...where is your sense of outrage a la "Rathergate"?

Galloway had 'em by the short and curlys, he rendered the mis-leaders speechless. Can we get a couple more like him in our legislature? You get so used to the double speak run-around, some cold hard truth is like a breath of fresh air.

Wasn't hilarious when Coleman tried to hint that Galloway had received "bribe" money to his fund, and Galloway told him that the Saudi's had funded him, which embarrasses the conservatives and which is why they omitted it from their report?

Ernesto - That's a boy: "Yes indeed, attacked in the sense that you and the neocons deserve to have your faces rubbed in your own BS every now and then, since it will keep the country safer that way." Come on Ernesto. The gloves are off and you are ready to tell us about the little Eichman's that were killed on 9/11. That'll teach'em. BTW - Byrd might loan you his sheet. BTW - The info presented against Galloway is the result of a lot of investigation. But, since he is an opponent of America, all he has to do is make a claim, and you fall down in a swoon at how great he is. " his party said the committee was relying on a counterfeit document created in Baghdad. You know, I gotta love you. You validate so many claims made about the Left.

You know, I gotta love you. You validate so many claims made about the Left.
Likewise for you and the Neocons and the claims made against them, which happen to have a lot more evidence (including photos) than these latter day McCarthyites have for their little witch hunts. You stepped in sheeit a mile deep in Iraq...hey no problem...start blaming left wing Brits for your own failings/corruption. And speaking of sheets...the 'Cons their cover got blown off bigtime yesterday so I let's hope they're a little more judicious in their slander/forgery attempts in the future!

A few more choice Gallowacious stones against the Neocon Empire... "Now, Senator, I gave my heart and soul to oppose the policy that you promoted. I gave my political life's blood to try to stop the mass killing of Iraqis by the sanctions on Iraq which killed one million Iraqis, most of them children, most of them died before they even knew that they were Iraqis, but they died for no other reason other than that they were Iraqis with the misfortune to born at that time. I gave my heart and soul to stop you committing the disaster that you did commit in invading Iraq. And I told the world that your case for the war was a pack of lies." "Have a look at the real Oil-for-Food scandal. Have a look at the 14 months you were in charge of Baghdad, the first 14 months when $8.8 billion of Iraq's wealth went missing on your watch. Have a look at Haliburton and other American corporations that stole not only Iraq's money, but the money of the American taxpayer. "Have a look at the oil that you didn't even meter, that you were shipping out of the country and selling, the proceeds of which went who knows where? Have a look at the $800 million you gave to American military commanders to hand out around the country without even counting it or weighing it. "Have a look at the real scandal breaking in the newspapers today, revealed in the earlier testimony in this committee. That the biggest sanctions busters were not me or Russian politicians or French politicians. The real sanctions busters were your own companies with the connivance of your own Government. Put some sheets on that, PPJ.

To all you Galloway fans out there remember one thing, "When you lie with dogs you get up with fleas". Dark Avenger, I think you have got it wrong about libel law UK v US. It is easier to win libel cases in the than it is in the US. And that was quite a rogue's "gallows" speech that MP Galloway gave on Tuesday. The best defense is a good offense and Galloway is about as offensive as they come.
