Detroit Terror Prosecutor Quits DOJ

Richard Convertino, the prosecutor blamed for the failed Detroit terror prosecution, has resigned. He says he is going to become a defense lawyer.

In court filings and interviews, department officials have blamed Mr. Convertino in large part for the dismissal of criminal charges against three Moroccan men suspected of operating a Qaeda terrorist cell in Detroit. The case was dismissed after an internal review found that prosecutors had failed to divulge material casting doubt on the suspects' links to terrorism.

As TChris reported here, Convertino has been under investigation for alleged misconduct in earlier drug cases. He sued Ashcroft and the Justice Department claiming to be a whistleblower, notwithstanding that his lawyer acknowledged that he intentionally withheld evidence from the defense. My view: The defense bar is no place for Mr. Convertino.

    why not? after all our non government is doing all it can to help bin laden. soon our non government may start beheading's in its system of total insanity, after all don't we want to be part of the world? the oil world? and as the stalinism mexicans for aztlan would say get out of our aztlan. (If you can't understand what that means, may the gods help you) This guy knows it's over and is looking for a way out of that system, but like i like to say, "you can run but you can't happen from what is coming. if you people don't start seeing the world the way it is you can't help or save your world, and guys like bush and bin laden will win this murderous fight and our world will be hell on earth.

    The world is fast and furiously racing into a vast and far-reaching junk pile. You execute them with lethal injections, not beheadings. Lethal injections into people like Tim McVeigh are more humane looking and the dumbed-down 'public' accepts such State-sanctioned murder. That's 'sexed-up' barbarism, not crude and rude like what takes place in Iraq. It's pure hell already. Mr. Convertino is heading for the exit before the rush. He was 'blamed' for the failure. He's making the break, no one will give him one. 'Nobody told me there would be days like these... strange days, indeed'

    I would sure like to see obstruction of justice charges in cases like these.
