Sgt. on Trial in Iraqi Death

by TChris

Trial has commenced against U.S. Army Sergeant Tracy Perkins, "accused of killing an Iraqi civilian by having subordinates push him off a bridge into the Tigris River."

Witnesses called by the prosecution said they heard Perkins say over the radio, "Somebody is going to get wet, tonight."

The defense contends that there is no evidence that the Iraqi died by drowning, and some witnesses apparently say they saw the man standing in the water before they left. The body was not exhumed after being buried by his family.

The lower ranking grunts stand trial while the architects of the disaster walk free. Yet one more parallel with Viet Nam.

How about Alberto Gonzales try a swan dive from the bridge? Then we towel him off and let him continue with the non-confirmation hearings. The obsolete, quaint Geneva Conventions frowned on throwing folks off the bridges. On the particulars, the soldiers who follow these orders are also war criminals. Any soldier who bought the story that the Geneva Conventions were not in effect is a fool and criminal.

“The lower ranking grunts stand trial while the architects of the disaster walk free.” I quote from the article – “accused of killing an Iraqi civilian by having subordinates push him off a bridge into the Tigris River.” The man giving the orders is on trial. Now, feel free to begin the ‘Bush is a war criminal’ rant.
