Skippy, our favorite LA Blogger, reports that the Freeway Blogger launched a new ad campaign Tuesday--posting over 100 signs on LA Freeways protesting the War in Iraq and Bush's failure to find Osama.
On Tuesday, Sept. 7th, the Freewayblogger will post one hundred signs on LA area freeways protesting the war in Iraq and the failure to find Osama Bin Laden. The lone activist has posted over 2,000 handpainted signs on California freeways since the war began. According to the Freewayblogger, freeway signposting is the last opportunity open to the average individual to reach out directly to large numbers of their fellow citizens.
Why freeway signs?
When you put a sign on the freeway, people will read it until someone takes it down. Depending on its size, content and placement it can be seen by hundreds of thousands of people.
Some samples of his work:

And, he says, you can do it too:
Here's what you do:
1) Put paint on cardboard
2) Put cardboard on freeway
3) Repeat
Journalist Bruce Willey spent a day with the Freeway Blogger hanging signs and reports here.
New York Magazine has a photologue up of the New York's Republican Class of 2004. Some of them are priceless. My favorite:
Lucianne Goldberg, Internet guru, agent provocateur
Apparently, some feel New York didn't use the most flattering pictures of GOPers in the magazine's special convention issue....why doesn't anyone realize that the Republicans are ugly no matter how you present them?
[commenters are repeating themselves, enough. comments closed on this post. Submit any further comments to New York Magazine or Gawker, which published and commented on the Republican photos, links above.]
Who wants to listen to Laura and the Bush twins when you can tune into A&E and watch "Dog the Bounty Hunter" with Dwayne "The Dog" Chapman--America's coolest bounty hunter. Long-time TalkLeft readers know Dog's a pal, so it should be no surprise I'll be going to the premiere party in Soho --blogging will resume around 1 a.m.
From one of the many reviews:
The honesty, uniqueness, even charm of "Bounty Hunter" is a stunning surprise. A&E is to be congratulated for stepping out of the reality box to capture the real Dog.
Here's another good review.
For more on Dog's background go here.
The Washington Post reviews gonzo journalist Hunter Thompson's new bookHey Rube: Blood Sport, the Bush Doctrine, and the Downward Spiral of Dumbness: Modern History From the Sports Desk.
Sounds like vintage Hunter....I just ordered my copy.
If you haven't been reading Hunter's Hey Rube column at ESPN, you should be.
Rolling Stones' drummer Charlie Watts has throat cancer. He's expected to make a full recovery and be back with the Stones later this year. Charlie, 63, has been with the Stones for more than 40 years.
Get well, Charlie.
In other music news, this weekend is the 35th anniversary of Woodstock. How times change. 35 years ago David Crosby was part of the counter culture. Today, he wants to be co-President of the United States. And, he's on an anti-crime rag, bashing Enron's Ken Lay in his new song:

This San Francisco man staged and made a video of his own beheading by al Qaeda--showing how easy it is to fake these videos.
Update: Newswriter tells which tv networks fell for the hoax this morning.
Columbia Journalism Review's Campaign Desk has a short quiz you can take to gauge your knowledge of recent campaign and political news.
I got all the celebrity questions right and most of the policy and economic questions wrong. Could it be the media is more interested in peddling and repeating celebrity stories than substantive ones --and that being repeatedly subjected to them causes us to remember the details? I don't know. On the other hand, had the questions asked about Kerry or Bush policies on crime or civil liberties issues instead of economic issues, I bet I would have aced it. (I did get the intelligence director question right.)
Julia at Sisyphus Shrugged reports on how Monica is "fighting like a junkyard dog to leave it all behind her and get on with her life" by raking in the bucks speaking about Clinton. Check out the money Monica is getting these days:
Lewinsky gave a number of paid interviews about her relationship with Clinton; news reports said one interview with Britain's Channel 4 News alone netted her $400 000. Most recently, she was paid for an interview with ITV News in June, in which she accused Clinton of lying about their affair in his autobiography.
Next up for Monica: A panel discussion on check book journalism at the Edinburgh Television Festival on August 28.

Judge Terry Ruckriegle, presiding in the Kobe Bryant prosecution, apologized to Bryant's accuser for the court's errant disclosure of her identity on its website. The mistake was quickly recitified and the mainstream media haven't published her name.
There's a larger issue that isn't addressed in press coverage of the judge's apology. Is it fair for Bryant -- who is, after all, presumed innocent -- to have his face and name spread across the news? Is it fair to publish the accusations against him without identifying the accuser? Isn't her name (and any information legitimately affecting her credibility that might flow from the dislosure of her identity) just as important to fair coverage of the story as Bryant's?
Billboard is reporting that Linda Ronstadt may return to the Aladdin this fall--with Michael Moore singing backup vocals.
After a day of negotiations, the prospective new owner of the venue, Robert Earl, Chairman and CEO of Planet Hollywood International, Inc., issued the following statement:
"We hope to be approved by the Nevada Gaming Commission to become the new owners of the Aladdin Resort in Las Vegas as early as September 1, 2004. Upon the assumption of ownership, and with a new management team in place, we would like to offer the use of the Theatre of Performing Arts to Linda Ronstadt for a second concert and further to take Michael Moore up on his offer to join her on stage to introduce her and sing a song."
"We respect artists' creativity and support their rights to express themselves," said Earl. "We were very sorry to hear about the unfortunate circumstances of this past Saturday night and want to make it clear that Planet Hollywood has never, in our 13 year history, restricted any artists' right to free speech and we will continue with that policy once we take ownership."
The Recording Artists Coalition (RAC) negotiated for Ms. Ronstadt. Message to Mr. Earl: Good move. We'll consider staying at the Aladdin once your group assumes ownership.
Via Electablog: Linda Ronstadt was performing at the Aladdin Casino in Las Vegas. At the end of her set, she praised Michael Moore and his Fahrenheit 911 film. She got cheers and jeers--and then the guy in charge at the Aladdin booted her out of the place, not even allowing her to return to her dressing room and get her belongings.
The Aladdin was never our casino of choice in Vegas. But now, we're demoting it further--to the same level as Slimfast.
Earlier today we were discussing whether journalists are more objective than bloggers. Check this out. The Associated Press only reports that Ronstadt got jeered. The Las Vegas Sun reports she got equal amounts of cheers and jeers.

We think it's outrageous that SlimFast dropped Whoopi for her anti-Bush comments. As she says, she's skewered every President since she's been a comic. We won't be buying any SlimFast products.
If you are as unhappy with their decision as we are, let SlimFast know about it.
