What are your plans this Mother's Day? I'm going to sleep in, and in the afternoon, the TL kid and I are going to see "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo."
I'm sorry I've been too busy to blog all week. It's not just things popping in all my cases. I also have a new associate, and for a committed solo practitioner like me, it's a pretty big deal. But what better day to announce it than Mother's Day -- since my new associate is none other than the TL Kid. Who would have thought he'd get there from here?
For all our readers who are mothers, have a great day. And for those of you who are not, I remember how great it feels to get a phone call that begins, "Hi, Mom" when your kid is far away. So don't forget to call.

I know, I've been MIA from blogging almost all week. There's just been too much going on at work and I haven't been online. It's 9:30 and I'm just getting home -- and about to start sifting through 300 emails and checking the news. I will be around here tomorrow.
I hope I haven't missed anything major, this is an open thread, all topics welcome.

Orin Kerr on the Times Square "Bomber":
Shahzad is a U.S. citizen who has been living in the United States and was caught in the United States for a crime committed in the United States: Surely this is a case for federal court.
(Emphasis supplied.) Surely. What could make it not a case for federal court? Repealing all federal laws that criminalize the alleged actions. Will Lieberman propose that?
