I was looking for a Bob Seger version, but this was just too good.

On TV tonight: New episodes of The Killing (AMC); Celebrity Apprentice, Desperate Housewives, Brothers and Sisters, and The Next Iron Chef.

Here's an open thread, all topics welcome.

Saturday Night Open Thread

In the news:

Barry Bonds may have an excellent argument for throwing out his obstruction conviction.

Al Qaeda in Yemen figured out how to get around U.S. electronic surveillance.

Georgia wants to take the mantle from Arizona as being tough on immigration. It just passed a law allowing police "to demand documentation of residency and to detain people they reasonably suspect are in the country illegally." The law is here.

The internet poker crackdown continues to be major news. Some major players speak out on what they think will happen to online poker. And no one seems to have a definitive answer as to whether online poker is illegal.

It's a jail day for me. I have two to visit, and they are 40 miles apart. At least it's a beautiful day for a long drive.

Thursday Afternoon Open Thread

NBA playoffs start Saturday. Here are the current BoDog odds for who is gonna win the Golden Ball:

Los Angeles Lakers 11/4
Miami Heat 13/4
Chicago Bulls 7/2
San Antonio Spurs 7/1
Boston Celtics 15/2
Oklahoma City Thunder 12/1
Dallas Mavericks 18/1
Orlando Magic 18/1
Denver Nuggets 35/1
New York Knicks 45/1
Portland Trailblazers 50/1
Memphis Grizzlies 100/1

I'm rooting for the Bulls - they have Gator Boy Joakim Noah, plus who doesn't love Derrick Rose? I like the price on the Bulls too. In any event, the NBA playoffs are great theatre. And this year more than most, with the Heatles (who look like a strong threat to win.) It looks like it will be fun.

Sunday Open Thread

I'm putting aside the budget fight today to finish my outline on "The New War on Pain Meds and Criminalization of Doctors and Patients" for the upcoming NORML Aspen Legal Conference (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, June 2-4. )

The full agenda is here. If you'd like to attend, you can register here. This annual seminar is very popular, and unlike NORML's annual legal seminar in Key West, it is open to non-lawyers at a reduced rate.

As in past years, there will be a dinner banquet/benefit at Gerry and Chris Goldstein's home, prepared by Cache Cache chef Chris Lanter and his staff, and on Saturday afternoon, we'll be having an afternoon cookout at Hunter Thompson's Owl Farm, courtesy of Anita, with live music, great food and lots of comraderie.

Here's a video I made of the Aspen 2006 event.
