RNC: Is Anyone Still Watching?

From the prepared text of Donald Trump, Jr.'s propaganda pep talk last night:

Imagine the life you want to have--one with a great job, a beautiful home, and a perfect family. You can have it.

Who wrote his speech? Is he channeling the Talking Heads again (Once in a Lifetime)?

You may find yourself in a large house
You may find yourself with a beautiful wife
You may ask yourself "How did I get here"?
....And you may ask yourself "What have I done"?

Or is he channeling his father? How about both.

Trump world: False facts, false narratives, flawed family. Same as it ever was.

If you are still watching, feel free to tell us what you saw.

for anyone who is a fan of the Weavers' "Wimoweh" (1952), or The Tokens' "Lion Sleeps Tonight" (1961), or The Lion King. "Vote Him Away" sing-a-long, by folkie Roy Zimmerman. Cameos by Peggy Seeger and Jay Siegel (of The Tokens, doing his 1961 original high harmony chant line).

Don't vote for Biden because you. will get a terrible, out-of-control government like Trump's.  As if Biden is the current president.

The use of the White House for Trump's Republican coronation was bone chilling fascism. Scary.

    From the pool reporter:

"The president's motorcade moved down Pennsylvania Avenue on a route that took us past throngs of protesters who are presumably here for the events marking the anniversary of Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s March on Washington," the pool report reads.

"Many of the protesters along the avenue greeted the motorcade with raised middle fingers," it notes.

"There were far too many middle fingers to count. Several of the peope in the crowd opted to raise both of their middle fingers in a double barreled one finger salute," it continues. "Some of the protesters waved signs. A few that were clearly legible read `BLM' and `BLACK LIVES MATTER.' One man's sign that was visible from the motorcade said, `WHITE SILENCE = BLACK DEATH.'"

An estimated 21.6 million Americans watched all or part of Trump's RNC acceptance speech last night on TV, which represents a 33% drop from the 32.2 million viewers Trump had for the same event in 2016.

You kind of lost the lead there (none / 0) (#18)
by CaptHowdy on Fri Aug 28, 2020 at 05:56:01 PM EST
The audience for the DNC was down a similar amount from 2016.

    The thing is this

CNN: "About 21.6 million viewers watched coverage of Trump's RNC address across nine cable and broadcast networks, down from 23.6 million viewers who watched Biden's DNC address on the same nine networks."

    The audience for HRC's acceptance speech ... (none / 0) (#19)
by Donald from Hawaii on Fri Aug 28, 2020 at 06:16:44 PM EST
... in 2016 was about 29.3 or 29.4 million. More people watched Trump's RNC speech that year. But the overall decline in DNC viewership between 2016 and 2020 was about 20%, much less than the RNC's tumble.

Further, RNC viewership this year actually peaked on night no. 3, which apparently means more people watched Mike Pence's speech on Wednesday night, than watched Trump last night. Go figure.

Anyway, while Trump's core supporters are undoubtedly enthusiastic, he's doubled down on his base this past week and made no real effort to grow his support.

These next nine weeks are going to get ugly.
