Trump Wanted to Invade Venezuela

Donald Trump pressed his aides on why the U.S. couldn't just invade Venezuela. He also floated the idea to leaders of Latin and South American countries, like Juan Manuel Santos, the President of Colombia.

He raised it again at a dinner, and even told the foreign leaders his staff said he shouldn't talk about it:

Then in September, on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, Trump discussed it again, this time at greater length, in a private dinner with leaders from four Latin American allies that included Santos, the same three people said and Politico reported in February. The U.S. official said Trump was specifically briefed not to raise the issue and told it wouldn’t play well, but the first thing the president said at the dinner was, “My staff told me not to say this.” Trump then went around asking each leader if they were sure they didn’t want a military solution, according to the official, who added that each leader told Trump in clear terms they were sure.

Will America survive a reality TV star with zero political experience who knows nothing about history and is viewed around the world as an unpredictable petulant child to be snickered at and swatted away like a fly? Probably, but we'll never be the same. In one and half years, the idea of America as the beacon of liberty in the world has become a joke.

Things get interesting when Trump invades a NATO country and former allies from the EU have to now mount a military response.

I really think Trump's court will try to remove him from being bound by rule of law.
It's a coup of all three branches.

When Trump begins ordering insane things (and he will) like rounding up journalists or whatever, which way will the military (and local LEOs) jump?

I sense top ranks like Mattis will object. But some LEOs in red state wherever will eagerly follow Trump's orders, as well agencies such as ICE, CBP, DHS. And sadly, DOJ.

Can the military save us? Because I'm feeling, with the 5th Fascist/Justice, it's over.

Trump administration now shopping for military personnel who have signed on to Trumpism to run stuff. And there isn't a phucking thing anybody can do about it. Not even Mattis. He can be treated as a figurehead and not much we can do about it.

If anyone is worried our military will attack Americans for Trump I would say our military will fracture and on our worst day attack each other first.

Peter G: "There are many kinds of cases that come before the Supreme Court where Stephen Breyer (particularly), Sonia Sotomayor and R.B. Ginsburg are more likely to side with government power, over individual claims, than are the right-wing Justices."

Kelo v. City of New London, the dubious 2005 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that authorized local governments to exercise their powers of eminent domain to transfer real property from one private owner to another private owner in order to further economic development, comes immediately to mind.

I don't know which I found more appalling at the time of the decision -- that Justice John Paul Stevens penned the 5-4 majority opinion with Justices Ruth Bader Ginsberg, David Souter and Stephen Breyer in support, or that I found myself in full agreement with the late Justice Antonin Scalia, in which he vigorously argued that a private use which provides only an ancillary benefit at best to the general public is a very questionable rationale to assert the government's condemnation powers.

Ironically, after New London, CT went forward with the eminent domain process to separate homeowners from their properties as part of its comprehensive redevelopment plan, the developer who had pressed the city to use its condemnation power then failed to obtain requisite financing for his project, which then faltered and collapsed. I believe that to this very day, all that condemned property on New London's waterfront remains vacant land.

Trump has worse things planned than invading countries he doesnt like.  Hillary and Obama are headed for GitMo and lots lots more when the STORM comes.

If you want to know just how completely bat sh!t crazy these people are..

From celebrities to the grassroots, the right is obsessed with the idea there is a secret conspiracy where Hillary is headed for Gitmo. Here's everything you need to know.

Since Q's "breadcrumbs" are so vague, it's impossible to nail down exactly what the storyline is supposed to be. But the general story, outlined in a pro-QAnon video endorsed by Schilling, is that every president before Trump was a "criminal president" in league with all the nefarious groups of conspiracy theories past: the global banking elite, death squads operating on orders from Hillary Clinton, deep-state intelligence operatives, and Pizzagate-style pedohpile rings. In an effort to break this cabal's grip, according to Q, the military convinced Trump to run for president.

Now Trump and his allies in the military are poised to arrest all these wrongdoers, shipping many of them off to Guantanamo Bay. That coming purge has been dubbed "The Storm" by QAnon fans, who claim Trump referenced it when he referenced "the calm before the storm" in October.

While the Storm is at the center of the QAnon narrative, it's also flexible enough to fold in just anything that makes the news. Q is fond of hinting that each mass shooting is a false-flag attack organized by the cabal, and he used a blurry webcam picture of a flash of light near the Puget Sound to claim that the deep state had tried to shoot down Trump's plane.

As this story progresses, I look for more of them to start putting some distance between themselves and the potential blast zone.

After all, they're likely not Hannity-level stupid. They realize that Robert Mueller is certainly no Kenneth Starr, that Trump wouldn't be so viciously defensive if there wasn't anything very serious to hide, and that it's also their own personal and professional credibility which is on the line here, if and when Mueller finally presses the button to blow Trump & Co. into smithereens.

    Aloha.

has been mostly ignoring it, of course it's been wall to wall kids in cages/caves the last week.
Rudy did crawl out of hiding to promote the newest ridiculous demand of Mueller and double down on his attacks on the whole investigation.

Maybe if the likes of Fox and Chaffetz are coming to see what has been painfully obvious to many of us for years there is hope, but so far it's just talk.

    The rescue is underway.
The first of the boys trapped in a Thai cave were rescued earlier today, and the mission has been temporarily suspended while teams restock supplies.

But rescuers have a dwindling window of opportunity, with forecasters predicting the return of heavy monsoon rains in the coming days, effectively sealing off the cave until October.

    Let's hope for more miracles

    Mark Twain pointed that out.

Though I believe some boys were the one's who initially discovered those paleolithic caves in France.

I hope to hell they get them out. You'd think the pr-obsessed Trump would be all over this offering every kind of assistence possible.

    I don't understand how this happened. (none / 0) (#55)

As I understand it, the twenty-five-year-old coach of the Wild Boars football club, for boys aged 11 to 17 years of age, decided to take his club on an excursion to the local caves. I have no idea whether he had permission from the parents or even whether taking children to visit caves is a common thing in this area.
