A Beautiful Wedding

I woke up just in time to watch Prince Harry and Meghan Markle exchange vows and be proclaimed husband and wife. It was a very pretty ceremony with very nice music. The only thing I didn't see or hear was "You may kiss the bride."

Prince Charles and Camillia are there, as are Queen Elizabeth and Prince Andrew, and Prince William and Kate. I think the only other people I recognized are James Corden and his wife and George and Amal Clooney.

Meghan and Harry just re-entered the chapel and everyone sang "G-d Save the Queen." They just got outside to cheers and finally, they kiss. Meghan now is all smiles.

Congratulations to the happy couple, now to be known as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. It's a gorgeous day in London, and the couple are now entering a horse drawn carriage and riding off to the acclaim of all. Princess Charlotte held a bouquet and waved them off, it was very cute.

Sgt. Pepper hat and I especially liked those tall furry black hats that were worn by some members of the huge entourage.  Oh to be a young prince instead of an old fisherman.

    I wish I had that.. (none / 0) (#5)

But I have been on and off watching The Tudors marathon and thinking about why this stuff fascinates us so.

From Game of Thrones to the many drama series based on royalty there must be something there in our DNA.

I suppose it's different for different people.  I could not be less interested in the modern pageantry.

Im hooked by the life a death intrigue and the beheadings and the boiling alive.  When being royalty was a life and death matter.

Then I thought this perverse thing we have about royalty might explain some of what the great unwashed find in Trump.  If there ever was an American public figure who wanted to be a king it's Trump.  Or who lived like a king from the gold penthouse to the string of wives.

They look at him and see royalty.  Then I threw up.

But, I would have watched if it was not so early in the morning and if I did not have a wedding to attend on Saturday.

I like to watch all the pageantry and all the fashion which is a bit odd because I am not in the least bit fashionable.

Of the American preacher that made all the headlines.

I'm not personally religious but I can appreciate a good sermon.

To be honest - I didn't realize how much I needed that in my life but it was something.  If anyone needs to feel uplifted, I recommend watching it.

I am not a big fan of sermons but will watch it since you are recommending it.
