Nikki Haley Resigns

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley resigned today. Lots of people are asking why. And some think Trump will name Ivanka as her replacement.

Haley said she will not be a candidate in 2020. Is she looking towards 2024?

Republican Senators would be too embarrassed to give that job to Ivanka, but then again I've rarely been disappointed when expecting the worst of them.

appears to be pushing Jared...whom she calls "a hidden genius".  The hidden part makes sense, but then there is that other part.  Also, the initial reporting of Haley's resignation came from Jonathan Swann of Axios, who appears to have access to Javanka.  Maybe the team of Ivanka and Jared are in the UN future. It's only another norm and institution to be broken.

She might have been praising the Kushners because they are supporters of Dina Powell who she wants to replace her.

Bolton, Kelly and others are not Dina fans.

architectural degree at Slovenia U. will come in handy for reconstruction of the UN building, after John Bolton, as he once claimed would not make a bit of difference, takes the top ten floors off the 39 story building.

done with politics for good or she is going to run for something in SC. She's done nationally and she knows it saying she is not running in 2020.

She is planning to run for president.  2024, maybe.  I still think 2020 is her time.

That said, her job is going to be very interesting in the near future.  The Sauds just appear to have killed a U.S. citizen and WaPo reporter and dismembered him with a bone saw.

To say ME politics is a hot mess and we need to Sauds is a bit of an understatement.

Whats she planning to say to the Saudi ambassador about this?

This seems like a strange thing to pop up 3 weeks before an election.

agree, she wants to be president, at least VP depending on circumstances.

I seriously doubt she would challenge tRump in 2020. If anything happens to tRump she may or may not run(maybe as VP with Pence?).

I think the timing suggests that this is more a political than some brewing scandal or a policy fight with Bolton and the rest of the uber-hawks.

the fact that anyone associated with Trump pretty much has had their career ended I'm not sure how she overcomes it. The GOP is going to have to put forth a never Trumper to have a chance in future elections.

My guess is she's getting out of the way of something. Mueller, for example. Perhaps just the mid-terms. Or a foreign policy gaffe, such as letting the Saudis kill that journalist.
