SNL On Trump Inaugural

Don't miss SNL's cold open (Vladimir Putin on Trump's inauguration) and the opening monologue by guest host Aziz Ansari excoriating racism and bigotry against immigrants by Trump supporters, whom he calls the “lowercase k.k.k." Both are terrific.

Fast forward through the skit called "Conway" -- it's as lame as the person it's named for. What a waste of air time. Ansari said all that needed to be said about her when he said her inaugural outfit made him wonder if she was moonlighting as a doorman at FAO Schwarz.

Weekend update was also very funny. Video below: [More...]

The show ended with a song, To Sir With Love, for President Obama.

All in all, except for the Conway skit, it was a very good show.

with a pinch of Dutch self-deprecation too, which I thought was a nice touch in this holier than thou climate.  Stay classy Netherlands.

Kellyanne Conway was not moonlighting for F.A.O. Schwartz with that outfit. Rather, she's obviously lobbying for a return of the old NFL New England Patriots logo.

looked like it was made from a cut-up Russian flag.

That was my first association anyway.

as did anyone else who paid $3600 to Gucci for that getup.

It is an exact, and I mean exact, copy -- down to the buttons, the belt, and complete with the red hat in that style and red gloves -- of a Simplicity home-sewing pattern from 1975.

I wish that I had saved the photo of it, seen on social media today, to link to it here.  But believe me, it is an exact copy.

I think simplicity had one more button on each side, but that was the only difference I could find.

The opening with V. Putin and Weekend Update were the good parts.  The Conway whatever was dreadful. No Alec Baldwin, he was busy on the streets.  But, I do believe there is a mix between lower case and upper case white sheet Trumpkins, each group resentful, in differing degrees, to rising equality and affection for nostalgia--vitamin supplements v steroids..
