Rio Olympics: Opening Ceremony

They are starting to air the the Olympic Opening Ceremony on NBC. I wish Lester Holt could narrate the whole thing, he's got the best voice, doesn't dumb it down or hyperventilate or overly dramatize the small stuff.

I've had NBC on in the background for an hour, and so far, the coverage has been very good and interesting (except for the half hour the local affiliate had the air, what a difference between them and the big leagues.)

This is a thread for all things Olympics and Rio related only.

to Rio to see son compete in shot put. Great story. Can't figure out how to link on device  I am on. WaPost article yesterday and all over internet.

Cheering for: Aisha Praught, my friend's son's fiancé. An American running steeplechase for Jamaica. And Alexi Papas and Abbey D'Agostino, my daughter's Dartmouth friends. Alexi is an American running the 10,000 for Greece. NY Times says she is top 10 Olympian in social media. A very lively and interesting young woman. Abbey is running the 5,000 for the US. The most decorated athlete in Ivy history. None in the medal hunt, but very interesting stories for each.
